Going on A Vacation for a Week... With a Fry!!!

Hi! So, I'm going on a vacation for a week tomorrow. I have 4 adults who will probably find something to eat, but my main concern is the baby fry who is only about 2 weeks old. I would prefer them being fed at least once every few days, and the fry to be fed once a day. The baby is in a breeder net. Any suggestions on what to do?

I'm assuming by your name it's a platy?. Do you not have anyone who can come in and feed them?
I've always kept my fry in the main part of the tank but since yours is in a net, it makes it more difficult. Maybe you can put a plant or small decoration that has algae on it in the net with the fry.

Yeah, they're all platies. No, no one can come in and feed them.

Yeah... I think if I put anything on the bottom of the breeder net, the breeder net will sink, but do you know of any live plants that don't need substrate?

Java and Anubias would do fine floating for a week. Or sacrifice a stem or two , cut them off and float them in the net. I’d rather the babies eat and I lost a plant than the other way round . Could you get one of those feeding blocks and break a bit off ?

Hmmm.... I read mixed reviews on the feeding blocks.... But I'll see if I can find Anubias. By java do you mean java moss or java ferns? Yeah, I feel the same way about babies and plants.

Both do fine without substrate

I just wrote Java because either would be fine ! I’ve never used the blocks myself but I figure something may be better than nothing. I believe there’s pellets you can buy that aren’t solvable so don’t dissolve into a mess into the tank, I can’t remember the brand though so not all that helpful really ! Maybe someone else could point you in the right direction for those

Oh. Cool! That'll probably make things easier.... I never knew that, or otherwise I would've gotten java moss a week ago!

Hmmm.... I may look into those to use for the next vacation.

Thank you!!
