going back to school...

Well guys, this summer has been great, but now is the time to head back to school xp. Don't get me wrong, I usually enjoy school, but I wish summer hadn't flown by so quickly!

I picked up this tumbler during my school "shopping", wanted to share a pic.

IMG_20120807_211928.jpg

Also, I completed my summer goals of becoming a competent typist and planning my bowfront tank I hope to get for my b-day in a few weeks. Have any of you fellow members completed your summer goals you'd care to share?

OMG! That looks SO real!!! LOL it isn't, right?

Yeah summer has gone by too fast - 3 weeks and my son starts 2nd grade, I go back to the gym and back to the ole routine.
On to new goals

I had three weeks of break, then eight intense weeks of summer classes (almost a full load during a 16 week semester, crammed into 4 and 6 weeks, respectively!), and now three short weeks until classes start again. Then 17 credits of engineering classes, because I'm done with all the easy prereqs and gen eds. Sigh...

Unfortunately I didn't really accomplish my goal...Well, I got As in my two classes which was a goal, but I was really hoping to have my 55 gallon tank more stocked than it is...which is not any more stocked than it was a few months ago. Darn fish gods have it in for me.

Good luck in school! Hope you can drop in and say hello from time to time

I love your tumbler! The fish look so real!

I started my first year of medical school this week. Tomorrow is my third day. So far, so good but that could change after the first quiz next Friday.

Because I knew that school would be extra tough this year my only goal for this summer was to relax and I think I accomplished that pretty well lol.

Good luck at med school!! I considered med school, but A) that's a TON of work and a huge investment (both time-wise and financially), and B) I didn't have any volunteer hours, which I heard was important. But biomedical engineering is pretty close...just no post-graduate school required.

If you have a blog on FishLore, and you had spare time (hah, spare time in med school, I know) and you posted some of the stuff you learn from time to time, I would totally read it.

Are you sure those aren't real fish?!

I'm starting high school August 29. Summer's flown by, and August is packed for me, so it's going to feel really quick. I'm always so busy during the school year. Takes an hour and a half to get to school and back, then on top of that I have soccer, jazz band, music lessons, and lots of homework, I expect. You can tell that I can hardly wait for summer to be over. *sigh*

Ah, I'm so glad I don't have to go back to school. ^^ I'm not nearly finished with all my summer goals, but I did get a ton of stuff organized throughout the summer which is good. Still have some summer left to finish organizing though. I'm trying to get everything in my life organized and updated, but with the amount of stuff my family has piled up it's been a lot of work so far.

My part time MBA doesn't re-start until October so I still have some "summer" time!! My plan was to get a good deal of reading and research done for the final year thesis, but as I keep changing my mind on what I want to do I am not really very far down the line with that.

I have had time to prepare some sermons to preach at my church, which I had promised that I would get time to do, and I can now offer a reasonable rendition of Crack the Shutters on the guitar having taken it up at the beginning of July (my aI'm for the summer is to play it reasonably by the time unI starts again).

Other than that, I plan to chill before the resumption of madness in October.

LOL. Yes I'm certain these are NOT real fish! It would be 12 common goldfish in a 24 ounce tumbler Anyway, I'm suprised at all the replies I got when I was asleep! On the way to school now!

Really?? So early! When I was younger I never started school until around the 25th-ish. I start the 26th this year, so a little more time to relax.

I've heard that in the Southwest states you get out of summer in late may, and start it in early August, because it's so hot- is that the case with you? It's a nice plan until you have to start school in August.

Anyway, it's sort of exciting to start school again... for the first week.

Good luck in school everyone!

As my daughter will be 21 the end of the month, school isn't a part of my life any more. The closest is being sent to a training session for work; just never know when they will send you. And constantly finding better ways to program.

My son starts school next Thursday. When I was in school, the first day was always the day after labor day. He's not complaining though, for three years I sent him to a year round school this was his first full summer break.

Good morning,

SchoolBus.gif

I expect no grades lower than B's. I would expect all A's but I'm allowing you time for Fish Lore!

Typing, love it! One of the best classes that I took in high school. Congrats on your accomplished summer goals!

it seems so strange that school starts in august in the States. In Canada, school starts the day after labour day every year. Although kids have to stick it out in school til the very end of June every year, so it all works out even I guess.

I start the 26th this year, and am done around the first week of May. When I went to a different college, we started after Labor day, but I wasn't done until June. That was kind of lame, I like it this way better. (Although I did have from Thanksgiving until after New Year's off.) Once the weather starts getting warm, you don't want to be studying much anymore.

True, but at least when you're done with work and on weekends, you're free (unless you have work you have to take home). I'm never really free, because I have so much homework/studying I have to do. Any free time I do take is plagued by the guilt of "I SHOULD be studying..."

Hi all!
This year has been a wild ride for all of us. I'm pretty sure that fish are the only thing that kept me sane. Tomorrow, I am going back to school using all the precautions such as distancing, mandatory masks, and tons of ventilation. I started my fishkeeping journey during May of this year so none of my classmates (with the exception of some close friends) have seen the fish boy me lol. I'm not really nervous, but I do feel different as I have a new understanding of the world. WISH ME LUCK!

I just stopped going to school and started full zoom classes because COVID numbers got too high in our county. Good luck!

Oh. My county is in the highest tier, but our plan is cleared for all levels so I am forced to go unless there is a positive test in my district.

Lol covid finally forced my parents to let me homeschool, I’ve been begging them for years. Not because they’re worried I’d get sick, it’s mostly for religious reasons, but all the craziness at the schools finally pushed them over the edge. Never been happier with school, subject matter is so much more customizable and I literally don’t have to talk to anyone outside my family which I see as a massive win.

Best of luck!!! My uni closed way back in February at the start of the pandemic, I've been online since and I'm really excited that now my uni is saying we will be able to return to campus for the spring semester!!!

Don't worry about other people so much. If you are interested in something, then there are definitely other people who are also interested in it too. For example this entire aquarium forum! If someone has a problem with something you like, then you don't want to be friends with them anyway. Just be you and I bet people will respect you for that.

None of my friends thought fish tanks were cool either. But after seeing mine, one of them ended up getting their own tank and I helped him pick everything out.

I had to go online because my parents think that everyone is bringing COVID-19 back from their vacation that WE didn’t get to go on.
