Glow Light Tetra

I have 7 glow light tetras. 2 of them are torpedo shaped and slim. 5 of them look fat, with fat tummies, one of them looks like it's ready to pop. I got all of them in the last week of February as juveniles, now they appear to be adult sized. In your opinions and experience, could the fat 5 be ready to lay eggs?

    Hi Susie,

I suppose they could be ready. Are you trying to breed them? Just wondering because the glow light tetra (and any other fish) will eat the eggs if you don't remove them.

I haven't planned to have fry. I'm guessing that I may get them anyway  I'll have to watch them carefully and try to raise the fry. I have a lot of research to do. :D

They could very well be pregnant. Otherwise, watch the scales on their sides. If they start getting oversized and bulge out, then it could be dropsy. That happens to some fish. Some fungus clear at any pet store will cure that up.
