Glofish Wont Eat

I'm a beginner. Bought a 10 gallon tank marketed by glofish (with the black and white LEDs in the lid). Cycled for 48 hours, as recommended by the "experts" at petsmart. Conditioned the water, had it tested before buying my first glofish. He ate the day after I brought it home (five days ago) and hasnt eaten since. I changed out 25% of the water, again, advised by petsmart, with no affect. Will my fish when it gets hungry, or should I be expecting it to die soon? Again, five days without eating. Also, he likes to just chill in the corner of the tank most of the time.

 

What type of glofish?
Is the tank filtered?
What is the temperature of the aquarium?
What are the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels?

All types of glofish are schooling fish, and need at least 20 gallons to properly house the school.

 

The tank definitely isn't cycled. Cycling requires and ammonia source and doing it fishless with food, pure ammonia, etc can potentially take weeks or even months. With a bottled starter (like TSS) it still takes at least 2 weeks.

Did they tell you your exact parameters? A lot of times they'll just say "it's fine" or assume all 0 readings are good. The fish could be ill from an ammonia spike.

Its a tetra. Tank is filtered, temp is 77F. Respectively, parameters are 0, .25, 10.

Adding more cover, and/or a few more glofish/black skirt tetras might make him eat, but it really isn't ideal in a 10 gallon.

 

? No tank cycles in 48hrs. Are you positve your test are correct?

I really don't think your tank is cycled. What conditioner did you add as recommended by the lfs.

My danio is doing the same thing. Not eating, not interacting with others and chilling lonesome in a corner. Driving me nuts

I would recommend starting your own thread and answering tbe questions of the members who respond. It will be specific to your situation and you won't be hijacking a older thread.

I have my own thread. Just want to know if his fish is okay now... or got better shortly after. So I can be prepared if mine croaks.

(regardless of this post being a few months old there's still a memory of the experience.)
