Glo-fish discoloration on right side?

Heyas,

So I've been keeping an eye on one of my Glo-fish, as he (yes I'm sure its male) has had some digestive issues on and off. He looked fine all day, I did a 50% water change and a good cleaning because there was excessive algae buildup. After the tank was clean (and the new water dechloronated), I later fed them as per normal, about an hour ago.

Just observed the one yellow glo-fish in question, and he had what looked like a green area or a bruise on his side, around his stomach area on his right side. He's swimming fine and behaving normally, but it caught my eye and am looking to see if its something I need to be proactive about. I had a glo-fish about a month or so ago die from an ulcerated stomach (very large, looked super-pregnant).

I'm just wondering if this might be some sort of parasite, or maybe just a bruise from zipping around, or maybe he ate a chunk of floating algae? I put some Stress Coat in the tank, figure if its a bruise, that'll help the healing.

Thoughts?

I did notice some erratic behavior, he was rubbing against the gravel, like trying to swim to scratch his sides, kinda frantically. then he was fine. I did notice that he was beginning to, for the lack of better words, out stuff, and it was darkish, if not black.

Well, today he looks totally fine, discoloration gone, swimming around normally and playing with his tankmates. Really odd, will keep an eye out, but he's look a-ok

Well I'm glad he is doing better.

But, the scratching is a little suspicious. Scratching can sometimes be signs of ICH or internal parasites In My Experience. Just as a precaution, I would raise the temperature of your tank to around 82 - 86 degrees Fahrenheit (If you can) < Raising the temp will help if there is any ICH spores because the heat speeds of the metabolism/life cycle of the ICH parasite. Also, if you can as well, soak your fishes food in garlic juice before feeding them it (The Garlic Juice will help if there are any internal parasites, fish love it and it will do the trick).

thanks for the advice, I'll do that. I've read about the garlic juice thing before, where would I find that? The local supermarket franchise doesn't seem to carry it

You can mince your own garlic. That's even better as it's fresh. Just mince some garlic and add a few drops of tank water in with the garlic and soak the foods. Also, IME fish don't mind eating garlic so you don't have to carefully pick the food out.
