Glo Danio Behavior

Hi. I am new here but have been reading several posts and I really appreciate how most everyone is supportive with advice being plentiful!

I have 7 Glo Danios in a 20 gallon and an Albino Bristlenose. Aware of nitrogen cycle and have test strips (need liquid!)

My question about one female Danio (thick belly, wider body than the long, slender ones I assume to be male?):
For the past two days "she" has either been hovering in the same corner or scanning the bottom of the other side for a short while just to RETURN to her corner. She has not been in the middle or top of the tank! In fact, she didn't even come up to eat tonight.
She appears to be swimming well. (When other fish approach she chases them back in a circle but doesn't interact with them otherwise)

Why is she bottom dwelling and why not come up to eat tonight? She ate Saturday but it's Monday! Passing away, sick, spawning?

If you could list water parameters we can see if that may be the issue also, what temp is the tank?

Thank you so much for your reply.

I about had it with these test strips but here are the results from today:

Ammonia is easy to read on the separate strips I have (jungle brand ammonia test kit): bright yellow which indicates "ideal " in that/their regard.

NITRATES on this other strip has been a salmon like color (not anything close to the pink shades they provide for reference)

Have you seen any results like this? I can take my water to my LFS tomorrow to be tested while I wait for my ApI liquid kit from Amazon.

Nitrite completely white. "Safe "
Very hard water 300
120-180 range KH -- much lighter green in that range
PH range 7.8-8.4. On the lighter side of Alk.

temp: 79ish today

She hasn't been interested in interacting with the other danios. They have been playing and hanging out together & she's isolated. Moved to the middle of the tank now, merely free floating. Lethargic like. Goes back to her corner when another disturbs her.

No clue what's going on, but I can tell you that 79 is too hot for the danios and the BN.

Ok yeah I thought that was off. This may sound stupid but I live in Florida and this seems to be the "room" temp. How do you lower the Temp? (I have a heater just in case...I suppose I won't need)

Switch to a cooler room?

If you really wanted to, a chiller but they can get pricey. A good range for your danios is like 72-75F.

Just a FYI, I have used those strips and master kit at the same time. I had that shade also for Nitrates. According to the master kit, it was b/w 10-20.

Wow, 79 room temperature. No a/c?

Agree that the temp is definitely an issue. Not sure if it is THE issue however... if the lfs isn't out of your way I'd ask them to check your nitrate...

Okay thank you for bringing it to my attention ill deff figure out a way. I will probably move the tank to the coolest room in the house then (when doing a water change, so two people can lift it?), see if that makes a difference before I get a chiller.

Bahahaha. a.c. is at 76-77 degrees.

This IS a warm room, the other bedroom gets a lot more cooler.

It took 3 people to move my full 20 long (Me a 17 year old dude, my dad and my uncle) and we're no weaklings. So you kight need more than two.

Oh wow I am enlightened! Seriously it's been bugging me. Ty. So the salmon color indicates between the first two color ranges.

*insert banana dance *

Oh boy I need to put some men to work. (You're right, I can't even lift buckets for water changes)
