HI guys

Just wondering. What do you owners of huuuuuge plecos use as nets? Do they sell nets big enough for the 2-foot giants in petstores or do you go to the crocodile hunter corner shop?

I think you just reach in and grab them by the neck.. if they resist, rub their belly to put them to asleep. : :

LOL. What a funny picture!

But that fish... Wow! Triple Wow! One million wows! You have yourself a monster, Butterfly. What a b.e.a.u.t.y! How old is he? Is that an albino BN?

I guess you could always go get a shark net, hey.

Dont' they sometimes bite or hit you with one of their spiny things?

I just hope he doesn't get worried if you put him in that around dinner time. !

yeah, I don't like to touch plecos. I don't mind mollies at all. I actually always rub their sides, but plecos. Yuk!

Actually he's a Pterygoplichthys pardalis and will get to be about 13 inches. In that pic he's about 6-7 inches.
They won't bit(don't have anything to bite with) but they do flip and splash. Plecs can get caught in the mesh of nets and damage their fins.

They are really bad about getting their fins caught in the net. Have had to cut them out thus ruining a net, possibly hurting my plec, not to mention making him VERY PO'd
They can startle you when they flip and splash but that's about all
I love to watch dino catch them with his hands, he just scoops them up and goes on. I have to grit my teeth and scoop so I don't throw them when they flip LOL

Both of my plecos have lots of 'hair' and always try and push the hand/other fish away with it's head. It is very hard for me to pick up and go when there will be little spines being driven into my fingers.

lol.. sounds like it would go good with the "it's not a job, it's an adventure" slogan.

I just let mine suck on my hand...its 11 inches long and feels like a wet lizard!
Mine is in my outdoor pond so if I have to, I use a skimmer net to corner it. Nets are ok but only if the netting is tight - no loose folds for it to tangle in...

My clown pleco girl, is very hairy too...we use a big net for all sized plecos...then put the net in your hand. Turn it inside out & plecos always fall out...sometimes a little sticking to the net but now usually.
