Has anyone had experience with Giant Apple Snails and a carpet of Dwarf Hairgrass? I'm thinking about planting Hairgrass today but before I begin I want to make sure Ted doesn't eat it all xD

It's highly probable that Ted would eat the hairgrass. I would save your hairgrass, before it turns into an expensive salad for a Snail.

It's possible you have what are typically labelled as mystery snail Pomacea diffusa they will only way decaying plant matter.

It appears that the OP does, look at the picture given lol.

I couldn't tell if they were real or not if they are real and the snail hasn't eaten them the hairgrass should be safe.

Apple snails grow larger than mystery Snails, but both grow to a large size.
Both are commonly available, but I here Apple Snails are banned in some parts in the states.

I'm pretty sure mystery Snails are an unidentified species of apple Snail, that's why it's a mystery (Snail haha, see what I did there? No? Okay.)

Both are very similar towards each other

Thwy are both a species of Apple snail some are more likely to turn a planted tank into salad bar and get rather large like Pomacea canaliculata

Pomacea Canaliculata is still a type of Apple Snail lol.

So basically, what I'm trying to say is that your plants might be safe for now but eventually the Apple Snails will turn them into a salad

No live plants at the moment besides java moss! I haven't had him in this tank long enough to see if Ted is eating that or not...probably is. Thanks for the information! I'm new to snails. I saw him and grabbed him. Definetly a happy spur of the moment buy!

Wow, those fake plants look really real lol. I would see if he's eating the Moss, if he is then I wouldn't put hairgrass in there

You could try it, but here in Indonesia's DHG is quite expensive, so it could turn into an expensive salad for Ted.

Pomecea BergesiI or mystery snail does not eat live plant matter only dead stuff anything Dead lol doesn't eat much algae either... The giant apple snails like Pomecea Caniculata and Pomacea Paludosa most definitely will eat live plants.
