Ghost shrimp Vs Neocardina shrimp

ive had ghost shrimp for over 2 months and they are so awesome to watch!
I wanted to add something to my 5 gal planted betta tank and my LFS guy gave me 15 (a net full) ghosts to see how my betta would respond to tank mates.“They’ll be dead in a few weeks anyway” he said. Almost 3 months in and at least 9 (that I can tell) are going strong and I have become very fond of them, they are active and just fun to watch.
Now I want to try to start a colony, I got a new 5 gal tank, a bunch of plants, and 6 neocardenia, 3 snowballs, 2 crystal reds and 1 solid white guy with a orange “starburst” on his carapace. Literally as soon as I added about 1 cup of my water to the .25 gal of LFS water the coolest looking guy, the white/orange, was laying on his side flapping his swimmerets and legs really fast, seizing almost. After about 5 minutes I poked him 4 times before he scooted away and started seizing on his side again. After another 10 min he is twitching only his claws, not eating, still on his side. I noticed a crystal red acting similar but he got up and swam away eventually.
Is my water that far off from the store that it caused instant death? Or is it just a coincidence on the timing, about 3 hours in the bag? I don’t want to invest too much money in shrimp if my water conditions can’t keep neos alive. Time will tell I know but anyone have a sooner answer?

So I know I was taking a chance but I did water changes on my two tanks yesterday, then stoped in to kill 45 min, 2 hrs later I have new set up. I asked about the shrimp being put in a brand new tank, he sold it to me and knew it was for the shrimp. I put the shrimp in a temp .7 gal tank with the fish store water, took about a gal out from another tank and matched temps then slowly added about 1 cup of water over 2!mintues. The plan was to use about 1 gal my water, about 1 gal his, and the last 3 new water.
Parameters are all normal and stable, I tested the shrimp tank after I added the cup of my water and it matched my other tank.

Also I underestimated how much substrate I had and need to got back in the afternoon to get more. They are currently in the 1gal temp tank with all the plants and snails I bought for the next 5 hours

Hello,

i’m far from a shrimp expert, but aren’t crystal reds ”Caridina” shrimp? The white one you posted looks almost like a white bee, also in the caridina family. These are usually a lot more sensitive to ammonia/nitrite and need precise parameters usually done by RO water and re-mineralization.

Best way to acclimate shrimp is by drip acclimating them.

Let’s see if richie.p can help and correct me, if needed.

Yeah so after a lot of reading I unintentionally bought very sensitive shrimp. That’s what I get for impulse buying.

I think your lfs should have advised you better pinypuppybum, those shrimp should have been dripped over 5ish hrs crystal reds are very sensitive to water change and that way you've done it will kill them, crystal reds are caradina and can live along side neocaradina and wount x breed, it's best to use RO WATER with red crystal and black bee your cherries will live happily in tap water and a mature tank, all shrimp are very sensitive to fast change even down to water change if you put water in your tank 3 or 4 degrees lower or higher this can shock and kill shrimp. Fish will get away with it as they are a lot harder.as for the white we class them as snowwhite or golden bee which are caradina and can be a sss high grade

I've just seen the photo of the white shrimp it looks to me as if it's crossed with a black bee also caradina and you can see the black on the carapace
Puts it as a low grade shrimp
