Ghost Shrimp Exoskeleton Discoloration

Ayzal

I’ve noticed that some of my older shrimps were changing to this calcified or burned color. Some die soon after while others slowly get stiff? Is this some sort of disease?

Hi there. :)
How long have you had them? Have they successfully molted before that you’ve noticed?

Hmm..you do anything different in your tanks lately?
Because I’d say if it’s only happening to your older shrimps..then it’s just their time. They only live about a year.

I agree with JuDom its old age im afraid, you've done well to get them to live full term

I’ve added new ghost shrimps just to get some genetic diversity. I’ve raised this group since they hatched and only lost 3 hatchlings at the time. But now they’re looking like this one by one and dying.

Ok that makes me feel better. I thought they might be getting some disease and weren’t able to live out their time. Thank you for the feedback!!
