Ghost shrimp about to drop eggs. Please help!

HI folks, I have a ghost shrimp that was berried when I got her (Aug 3). Today I noticed her eggs turned from green to clear. I've read that means they're about to drop. I know chances of the fry surviving are slI'm but I'd like to give them the best shot. I put her in a breeder net with some cholla wood, marimo moss ball, and a fake plant. When I notice the eggs are out I will remove her. What should I do to help the fry out? I have freeze dried brine shrimp, I was going to crush that into a powder and try that for food.

Also the timing stinks. I'm going away from Thursday night to Monday night. Not sure if there's anything I can do to keep them fed while I'm away. Thanks

I'm pretty sure ghost shrimp won't give birth unless they're in brackish water.
If theyre in brackish water then the breeder net will be the best chance but strong currents make it hard for fry to survive. Maybe someone else can confirm the brackish part.

I've read mixed things on that. A lot of places say the brackish thing is a myth and they breed entirely in fresh water. Some say brackish water is required. I guess I'll find out.

Found this on another site. If that's true sounds like it would work out perfectly. They should hatch a little while after I get back from my trip if they drop soon.

Well from a quick search I can't find anything on brackish. So I guess I was wrong. If you have time adding javamoss is beneficial for the fry. Easy food source. Good luck srry for confusion.

No worries. I appreciate your help. What's the difference between Java moss and marimo moss? I leave tomorrow so I'd have to pick that up tomorrow. Is that something I can get at a LFS or petsmart?

Unless you know what kind of shrimp they are there is no way to know for sure if they need fresh or brackish water to reproduce. Ghost shrimp is a common name for many different kind of transparent shrimp. A pic may help to correctly ID them.

That's interesting. So I'm not completely wrong?

No. Glass shrimp, ghost shrimp, could be many different kind of shrimp. I'm no expert on them. And even with a pic I could not ID them. But maybe someone else could. There is lots of different info on whether they need brackish or not to get viable offspring. It all depends on what kind of shrimp it is.

Pretty tough in the breeder net. Gotta do it from the top. Shooting through the net gives little detail.

Shots from when she was out of the breeder net.

Try posting that in id section to see if it can properly be identified

Well I got back from traveling tonight. She dropped her eggs while I was gone. I'm bummed I wasn't around to see it, but I see at least two shrimplets that are alive! I put brine shrimp powder in and they both went to the surface and grabbed some. I'm hoping I got it crushed small enough for them to eat. I took mom out so its just the fry in the breeder net. I hope they make it!
