Gh Keeps Crashing

Gold27

Hi I have really low Gh in my aquarium. I recently found out that this is because my aquasoil (fluval stratum) keeps sucking up the Gh. I have shrimp in my tank and need to raise the Gh. I bought Salty Shrimp Gh+ and dosed it. But within two days all the Gh in my aquarium was gone. I was thinking about getting crushed coral. But will the Soil suck this up too? I don't want to constantly dose the salty shrimp because then I will have large gh swings often. Is there anyway I can get my soil to stop sucking up the Gh? Or will I have to replace my soil?

The stratum is going to suck up nutrients, eventually the rate will settle out and you should end up with a lower than tap, but higher than 0 reading.

What are you using to test your levels, and what is the source/tap water?
