Getting rid of tannins in driftwood?

So I am setting up a blackwater biotope though my mother doesn't like the orangish brown color that is there in nature. I think I'll just recreate it with the light I have. Well I was wondering if there is any way to get rid of tannins besides boiling because the wood is too big and I don't want to soak it in water for a few months. I did one other time and I left it in there for 2-3 months and it still made my water super brown. I was thinking since heating it up gets rid of tannins maybe put it in the oven. I know others have done this to get rid of bacteria but can it get rid of tannins. If not is there anything else I can do.

Thanks, Ryan.

Driftwood will continue to leech Tannin unless you boil it for days. You can, however, help remove it from the water by adding activated carbon in the filter.

If the tannin is that much of a problem, theres types of driftwood that leeches 0 tannin , so maybe you could switch it out. If not , activated carbon does help remove tannin and medications.

Is a black water biotope without tannins still a black water biotop.

Nothing wrong with tannins. You're fish will love them and benefit. Teach your mother to love them as well. Make her join the LTLT-foundation (learn to love tannins).
A lot of people here are members.

Just two questions you have to answer:
Is the tank in your room or in a common room of the house?
Did you pay for the tank or your mum?

It is in a common room. I payed for it. Since it's in a public area my mother doesn't want it to look ugly (In her opinion) so it kind of isn't an option.

Also is ltlt an actual thing because if it is I want to join.

That makes it really not easy. Maybe take the best pics from tanninaquatics and try to convince her? I'd maybe even go with "Let me do my thing, it looks a bit ugly until it's ready but WHEN it's ready...".

Naah, LTLT is just a joke here on the Forum. But you may join or leave any time.
