Getting New Tank

HI guys! I took over my sisters 10 gallon and decided to upgrade to a 20gallon. What do I need to do to kick start the cycle quickly? How many/what kind of fish could I do in it? Would it be best to use all the water from the current tank, rocks and media from the 10 gallon in it?

(It will have 1 male betta, 1 sword tail, and 1 kilI fish, they were her original fish)
Thanks!

Yes, using the media aka seeding is a great way to kickstart a cycle. Decor can help but it should mostly depend on if the decor is what you want the tank to look like. You could go a step further and use something like eco-complete which is the fresh water version of live sand with the bacteria in it. Using tetra safe start + or Seachem Stability help as well. With all these steps, you should still cycle for at least a week ideally but you can rush and use Seachem prime or something like that (and lots of water changes until tank cycles completely)

Awesome thanks! I'll definitely check out those options!

Just remember, if you use a water conditioner to get rid of chlorine in your water you cannot use safe start or stability for 24 hours so fill the tank at least a day before you want to get fish in it.

Also I have had the best success with Fluval's bacteria starter over TSS and Stability.
