Getting a New Tank Soon!!!

Oh boy I'm so excited!!! My neighbors are moving across the country next month and they don't want to bother moving their tank with them, so they're giving it to me!

I'm not sure how big it is exactly, but it's small. At least 5 gallons or an odd size less than 10. So you know what that means... ANOTHER BETTA

There's some stuff in it already, but honestly it's fish that shouldn't be there. Lots of breeding guppies and sadly, two cory cats of different species. Once I receive the tank in the next month or so, I'll be posting on the BSTF forum since I'd like to get those cories into proper shoals with owners who have a big enough tank. The guppies will be up for grabs too since I don't have much interest in them, as pretty as they are.

Other than the stocking issues, this tank is a beautiful dirt bottomed jungle of plants. It's a mature tank too, and has clearly kept its cycle despite the neighbors chucking the filter carbon cartridge every month for the couple of years they've had it. I can't wait to take it over and customize the filter.

It also has a crazy pest snail problem, I think they're ramshorns. Pretty, but annoying. I'll be getting rid of them too either by giving them away or employing a few assissin snails for a while.

So... what kind of betta should I get this time???? I already have a Dumbo Halfmoon, a Halfmoon Plakat, and a Double Tail. I could take in another betta that's in rough shape and heal him/her up. I could try ordering one online. Or I could check out my LFSs. So many options!!! I can't wait to get another betta

Or...and I feel like a traitor even suggesting this...what about a pea puffer? Sounds like an ideal environment for one, complete with food

I thought of a pea puffer actually! They're super cute, but also super small. The more I keep fish and read about them, the more I fall in love bettas. They're like the perfect fish really, especially for a single-fish environment.

I have a 5 gallon with a lovely scarlet badis in it at the moment, and he' a cool little critter, but he's just not as interesting as my bettas in comparison. Scarlet badis and pea puffers both have big personalities for such little fish, but what can I say.... I live by the betta standard now haha. I'll probably end up ogling little puffers at the store, and it is temping that they already would have a food source...

...but bettas....

Haha too many decisions!! :sly:

Congratulations!
Maybe a CT, or a black and white HMPK
In all seriousness, get whatever "calls" to you. Whether it be their colors, personality, or just because you like them.
