Getting A Chinese Water Dragon To Eat Her Veggies?

So we have two water dragons in our house. One is a full grown male and the other is a small 3 year old female. The male, Archer, loves his veggies and occasional fruit treats. My little female, Kayda, will absolutely not eat any fruits or vegetables. In fact, she ate a dubia roach once and refuses to eat them now too. The only thing I can get her to eat are meal worms. I'm sure this is not a great diet for her but I have no idea how to get her to eat anything else. We assume she is about 3 years old since she just had her first clutch of eggs a few months ago. She is a rescue so no info was available on her. Ideas??

Actually dubias are VERY good for reptiles as they are really high in protein. As long as you have a mix of greens available for her, she should be ok. I would recommend also pitting the dubia on top of the greens so that when she goes after them, she gets a little mouthful.

different reptile but I have a bearded dragon that has the same issue. I introduced superworms into his diet and he started refusing to eat his dubias, crickets or BSF. I tried some tough love and decided that if he was hungry enough he would eat the dubias again, so I stopped feeding supers all together. he has remained stubborn and just ends up eating twice the greens instead and won't touch the other kinds of bugs. I know this isn’t very helpful but my point is sometimes they’re just stubborn little guys, nothing I could do.

We actually have our own Dubia colony and we feed the other 3 lizards in the house Dubias on a regular basis. She did try one but since then she refuses. She'll watch them but she won't eat them. I give her greens Everytime I give them to the others, no go. I am going to take her for a wellness check as soon as the cast comes off and I can drive. She has badly broken lips from being kept in a glass tank by her previous owner but the vet said that shouldn't stop her when I took her in last year. I even tried bearded dragon salad dressing. Since she wouldn't eat it the beardy got it. He was happy at least.

And you are right babiimoore, they all have their own personalities and they can be super stubborn!

Are you sure you have a water dragon? We might need photo evidence. <request for photos of your babies>

This is my little Kayda girl. She is a sweet cuddly little thing, just stubborn.

Beautiful girl!
Thanks! She is a little confused today. We live in a dessert basically and our humidity is only around 30%. She needs around 80%. I have a fountain in her little pool in the bottom of her cage and I used to mist her frequently. But I'm stuck on the top floor with a broken leg. I'm bad with crutches on stairs so rather than break any other parts of me I had my son help me get down and I was super useful sitting in a chair watching him while he covered her cage in shower curtains and setup a fogger for her. But now my husband says she is just climbing the sides trying to figure it out. I wish he'd bring her to me but he is not a fan of my lizards (scared, but you didn't hear it from me) and refuses to touch them. Poor little Kayda.

Oh, and while auto correct makes me wish I could live in a dessert, I have to live in my desert instead.

Mmm ... I wouldn't mind living in a dessert, either! Like ... chocolate with hills of chocolate covered almonds, peanuts, pecans, etc etc. Mmm .. Lakes of mascarpone cream (you know .. to lighten the richness LOL).
