I have 2 German blue rams, 1 male and 1 female with 2 platys and 2 Khuli loaches in a heavily planted 20 gallon aquarium. The 2 have been completely fine for the past two weeks, but I keep hearing people say heavy breathing is a sign of death on these guys. She is very plump and bring pink on her stomach, and seems to be breathing faster. Is that normal before egg laying? Her colors on her head have also darkened as well.

If they are actively moving about, behaving normally and eating well then they’re usually ok. How long have you had them? Parameters?
