Hey guys, woke up to see my GBR's kissing this morning and wasn't sure why?
I have a male and a female so thought it's possibly just breeding behaviour but not sure, I've had them for maybe a bit over a month now with no eggs, but they are in a community tank. So do any of you know why they do this?

Do you have a photo of this occurring?

Unfortunately didn't get one before I left the house, looks just as you'd guess really. They kind of hold there for a second and then swim apart again

    It's "pre-spawning" behavior.

It's called lip locking, and it is a test of strength. It can be a preliminary to spawning, as they are seeing if the potential partner is strong enough to be worth raising babies with. Or they could be simply fighting.

Okay thankyou! Guess I just have to hope that they're not just fighting then

If they are, lip[ locking is one of the "safe" contests. It's like human arm wrestling. Odds are, they are thinking of breeding, as MikeRad89 said.
