General cure and internal parasites/worms.

I've posted 2 other threads today so I'll make this as quick as I can. If I treat with general cure as it says on the package, will it rid the fish of internal parasites/worms or will I have to mix it with food to treat them? I had internal parasites in some of my guppies in my main tank and treated with general cure and they are good now but do they still have worms leftover or are they good?

You need actual internal medication. Its a liquid you order online. Do not put any other type of medication to try to treat internal parasites if its not internal medication...

So then whats the point of general cure? Aquarium co op says he uses it for internal worms and parasites.

For external infections and diseases.....
So what should I use? Seachem's products for internal parasites have the exact same ingredients

You need PraziPro, only can order online.

Prazipro and general cure have the same ingredients though.

Prazipro contains a stronger concentration of praziquantel (9.46 mg/gal) than General Cure (7.5 mg/gal).
Also the other active ingredient found in General Cure is metronidazole, which is mostly used to fight intestinal worms/parasites. Metro is not as gentle on fish as PraziPro. Do what you want then

Praziquantel isn't particularly water soluble so I'm not sure if putting powder in water is effective. PraziPro uses a solubilizer/emulsifier (PEG4000 or something). I've seen it work on my fish. Within a few minutes, worms were streaming out of the fish I didn't think had worms while nothing came out of the fish that were bloated.

General Cure is probably underdosed but I haven't done the math myself.

Okay so general cure won't work? I know aquarium co op swears by it.

General cure is the basic stuff that add more stress than help. I vouch for Prazipro as well. General cure is a waste of time and money honeslty.

Well darn I've been told that general cure is the best thing. So can someone link me to prazipro? I've bought 2 packs of general cure so that sucks...

PraziPro

I never trust the basic "medication" they sell in stores. All the right medication and products that are actually worth a dang are only sold online.

Okay guess I'll order some. I wish I knew this earlier as I just dosed the new pack of general cure into the quarantine tank.

Might not be wasted. I personally prefer the Prazi content to be a bit higher but it might still be effective for you.

I hope. Ive mixed some general cure with pellets using garlic and Epsom salt like a youtube video i saw did and have been feeding the fish in quarantine that as a preventative. I also am doing the normal treatment for internal parasites. I guess I should have been more clear as I don't know if they have the worms im just doing this all as a preventative.

You can use the GC in food. This is how I prefer to medicate fish but it obviously doesn't work when they're not eating.

I do have my fish eating Mazuri gel food regularly and I have various laboratory balances so I can accurately weigh things.

The ingredients are both pretty safe drugs. I would calculate the correct dosage though.

Praziquantel only treats nematodes and some flukes (it's not a reliable treatment for flukes--nothing is). If you have nematodes then you need other drugs.

Okay if the GC doesn't work I'll get prazipro. Sorry to CichlidCody for sounding rude I just didn't know prazi was a better option.

Should be fine as a preventative. Also, it's possible that metro & prazi are synergistic, meaning that don't need as much prazi as you would if it was dosed by itself.
