GBR still hiding

I have had my GBR for three days now. I rarely see it and all it does is hide in the cave. I actually had to pick up the cave today and check because I was afraid it was dead in there. I have witnessed it eat a little but not very much. I even tried blood worms but it will not come out of hiding while I am feeding. Is this normal? How long does it take for them to become comfortable? Thanks.

It may take a few more days for it to settle in.
Try reducing the light in and around the tank and just keeping your distance.
I know that's hard, but it will help.

Appreciate the info. I'll keep the aquarium light off for the next couple of days. It is close enough to a window and that should be enough light. Guess I just have to be patient grrr

Do you have a lot of cover for him? GBRs and the other dwarf cichlids like plenty of plant cover.

Yeah there is plenty of cover in the tank.

Then I'd agree. Just give him a couple more days to get used to the place. They can be very shy.

I got one yesterday and it goes between hiding in the moss to fighting with its reflection to swimming around with my guppies I think that yours might just be adjusting or maybe intimidated by your other fish perhaps?

It's out today and I thought it looked like it was listing a little while hovering on the bottom but maybe not. I hope not.
