HI all,

I've had a paid of GBRs in my 40 gallon breeder for about 9 months. They have spawned about 3-4 times that I've noticed although the eggs have never been fertilised.

Recently the male has been chasing the female around a lot more than before. There are plenty of places to hide as it's a planted tank but his chasing seems relentless. She has lost a lot of colouration, especially the black colour and now looks somewhat pale.

I'm assuming introducing another female won't help as they have paired up, or would he chase both of them somewhat easing the stress that my current female is getting?
Any ideas/help?

Introducing another female won't help at all, actually it will a little. It'll separate the harrsment from the male by 2 of the females.

For now, our priority is to save your current female. Do you have another tank or a breeder box you can temporarily keep her in?

Afraid I don't. I could get a breeder box ASAP if this is a serious situation and not normal behaviour!

You could just make a DIY version. Just get a plastic bottle or transparent container and poke some holes in it. And simply put the fish inside and let it float in the tank

Quick Update:
So after 3-4 days of my poor female GBR being kept in the breeder box I bought (I've never seen a fish look so miserable, barely moving and just staring into the tank) I introduced her back into the aquarium around a week ago.
Although the male still chases her some, it seems a lot less than before and she is looking more healthy
