GBR and Golden Ram?

I have 2 male long fin GBR's and 1 normal GBR and a gold female ram. I am wondering if I should pair up the long fin or normal GBR or just let them figure it out. I am fine with any ideas. I can rehome some I have other tanks that could use some color. Once I have a pair then I would figure out the females from the batch then have the other 2 males pair up if I still have them. I would like you opinion if I should have the 2 REAL GBR's pair up or the long fin ones. I kinda want a mixed breed and later on I will add some electric blue rams so I can have a GBR gold and electric ram mix.

I think its up to you for which rams you want to try and get to pair up. I'm no expert with rams but I had my 2 GBRs pair up after about 1.5 months together. through my research I've found that getting them to pair off is the hardest part and I'm not sure if the fish distinguish between the different groups (long fin, gold, angel, electric). As long as aggression isn't too bad between the rams, id suggest that you keep them together or at least 3 (1 male 2 female) to give yourself a better chance at getting a pair. then definitely remove any other rams once the pair sets up the home turf. I couldn't even get my hand in the tank when my two paired up cause the male was so aggressive towards everything but guppies lol. idk if any of this helps but I like the idea of the gold/electric but I wouldn't hold your breath!

PS- Lets hope the wild get their first win tonight! minnesota wooo!

Yassss minnesota ftw!!!!!! So I think I should have the normal GBR pair up with the gold then after that let the females of their batch pair up with the other 2 big males. I hope it would happen someday. I see in the tank rn that the female actually likes the normal GBR than the other 2 she follows the GBR instead of the GBR following her XD its so adorable. So I think that they will pair and the other 2 males.....hm they seem fine like they show off and stuff to the female but literally the female passes by them and goes to the other GBR LOL.

Is there anyway I can get them to be a for sure pair faster? I mean I lowered the Ph raised the temp etc etc idk what else to do

Sorry about the weird double post there but beside raise temp and ph I've read that a high protein/fat diet can help as well. I feed my pair flakes and freezedried brine shrimp. I didn't do this personally but I've heard it can help. I think your plan sounds good but may take some time! also maybe the other rams are distracting the female or making the pairing up more difficult (too many options type of thing?) not sure on that theory lol best of luck with the rams! definitely my favorite fish that I keep!

Yes that is a great thought. The female seems to have her mind set on A male and I will watch and see with male she likes (follows him around and etc) Ive seen the female and male that I thought would go together start circling and like poke but not hurt type of nipping. But then the big male came in and chased the little male away :'( SO CLOSE!!! UGH!!! lol :3

if you see that type of behavior between two of them then I would split them up from the rest. with rams being so hard to get to pair, any chance that two like each other I would take that! I sat at the LFS for 30 minutes watching the tank before I chose the 2 I did. lucky but anything will help!

none of my friends cared when I explained how small of a chance it was for me to pick up two young rams and for them to spawn within 2 months. I wanted to pat myself on the back because it really isn't easy and I've been very lucky!

I originally went to Fishlore for identifying my two GBR and we came to the consensus that I had two females so you never know with these guys. my male had a slight pink belly when I bought him which has since gone away
