As some of you know I'm always working on breeding projects. Currently my main two projects is breeding Corydoras Adolfoi and Ancistrus Plecos. Recently, my Ancistrus threw a variety out that I want to work on (Yellow with blue eyes) very similar to L144 for anyone wondering what they look like.

So my question: Regardless of all other factors but specifically sticking to these two species, which of the two would you most likely consider buying if they ever became available at your local fish store?

I vote pleco but then again I am prejudised . My favorite fish at the moment are my Male ABN, my female L144, and my female yellow, blue eyed, ancistrus.

I love both of these species, this is what's causing my dilemma! I want to breed both but only have room in doing so with only one species.

I don't think it will let you haha.

Just some background for everyone. What ever species I decide on will be bred in 8 40 gallon breeder tanks. The reason I use so many tanks is because I'm very selective in who I choose to breed. Only the best I allow to continue to breed and create new generations. Also, I like to divide the fry up well when they are young to allow them to grow out optimally.

Corydoras adolfoi are far less common, and therefore will bring better returns. Everybody and his sister is raising Bristlenose, they are dirt cheap in my region.

Adolfoi are less common than L144?

Absolutely. Every auction I attend has at least 25-30 bags of Bristlenose of various color and fin varieties. Haven't seen any Corydoras adolfoi in quite some time in auctions or stores.

I would most definitely say cories all the way. Cories are less common, as was said, and imo much cuter. :3 They're noticeably more active and have a friendly little personality. I love 'em to death.

My vote is for Corys too. But I'm partial to Corys because I think they are so darn cute.

The best part about cories is feeding time.

*owner drops a shrimp pellet into the water*
*casually lies back and ignores the dropping pellet*
*sees pellet drop on the gravel*
*wiggle-wiggle-wiggles over to the pellet*
*wiggle-pecks at the pellet*

I think that both have a good side. Personally, from now on any tank I have over 30 gallons is probably going to have some sort of pleco. I've enjoyed the antics of my clown pleco, but bristlenose plecos are more common. I think that the majority of people with a medium sized tank is going to have one of these species. Personally, if I had another tank I would definitely want a pleco over corys.
Corys share a niche with loaches and other smaller bottom dwellers, so less people are going to have corys. HOWEVER, when they have corys, it isn't 1 or 2 like with plecos, its going to be 5-15. So while I would be quicker to buy a pleco, corys might be the better option.
