we get lots of snow here. how do i keep the gas exchange.

Use a de-icer during those months to keep it open and you will be fine.

It will work as long as you get one that will work at that temp or just break ice when it occurs. As long as they have an area open enough to release gases you will be fine . Have you had problems in the past? Did you have suffacation from this?

they make one the floot on top of the pond or you can go find one that keeps horse and cow water open

i don't have a pond. but i have wanted one for a long time.
