alright so I have a lot going on with the fish rn but I just want my plans double checked! I already have a 10 gallon and a 15 gallon and those are the two I will be completing. one day I really want a 30 gallon sorority community but that’s in the not so near future
10g
cycled, tidal 35, heated, planted, up and running for like 2 1/2 years (had bettas). right now I have a new pair of young gbr in there (i’ve had them for like 5 days), but I want to move them to 15g. unfortunately they got ich a days after getting them, but I set the tank to 86 (working up to 90) and added tannins. the viable ich have started dropping off and i’m about to vacuum so the ich shouldn’t be an issue in like 2 weeks. once the whole ich thing is over and this tank is empty I ideally want to put another betta in it (I can’t live without one! I love their personalities)
15g
up and running for maybe a year and a half.
ac20, heated, fake plants. it used to be my dads tank but he got tired of his fish and didn’t want to take care of them and they didn’t interest me too much so I brought them back to the lfs in their best interest. I left the 2 amano shrimp as they will be fine in my tank, however I haven’t moved them yet (10g=ich) I also have my driftwood I planned to use in my 10 gallon but I didn’t want to put it in there with the ich so I boiled it and added that water to my 10g.
my plan for this tank is to move the gbr and add a school of either tetras or rasboras or some small schooling fish, and add some a shoal of pygmy cories. would this work? of course I won’t be adding them for at least a month probably even more.
another option is a bigger tank. I have this nice wall that’s 49 inches so I think I could fit a 40-55g. I definitely want to do this but i’m not sure how expensive it would be. I would also have to sell some of my smaller tanks because I can’t keep them all lol. if this is the case would a betta sorority community with the gbr work? then I would just have the one tank. how much was a 40-55 setup for you guys? I would also want to use all the filters I already have and not purchase too much more. let me know on all you guys thoughts and comments!
