That is most certainly not any barb or gourami. Looks like a cichlid but I do not keep cichlids so I couldn't tell you what species. That fry does look on the older side so I bet you it's a two to three month old cichlid fry.

Wow I cant believe it survived being in the tank without being eaten.

I know the cichlid that was holding was an obliquiden(?) But I have no clue who the father would be.
