I want to get some frozen foods for my little guy but the only thing I see on PetSmart's website is Blood Worms.

If I already have the freeze dried bloodworms am I really achieving a varied diet for him? I also will be including Omega one betta buffet pellets and Tetra Color Tropical Flakes.

How are freeze dried blood worms different from frozen blood worms? More protein more flavor same food?

What other frozen foods do they sell at PetSmart for bettas? Before I make a trip I would like to know what else to ask for. Customer service is terrible at my local store so keep your questions to a minimum so not to irritate the employees .

I saw a post where daphnia was also a good laxative for Bettas and would like to include it in his diet. Does it come in frozen form? I only saw this one which is freeze dried, does anybody use this?

Please leave links to frozen foods so I can either purchase online or know what to look for in store. Thanks in advance.

You can buy the following frozen foods at petco or Petsmart : frozen daphnia, frozen mysis shrimp, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp.
Frozen food is much better for your betta due to it higher nutritional value and lower risk of causing bloat. Freeze dried blood worms are also very addictive to the fish and can cause them to swallow air leading to swim bladder disorders. I alternate between pellets and frozen brine shrimp although having up to 5 types of food is best. I’ve heard some Bettas also really enjoy repashI gel food, which is not only switching up their diet but also very healthy. If you feed your fish the same food you always feed them, there is science that shows that they slowly absorb less and less nutrients, that’s why frozengel, and pellets are always better than anything freeze dried.

I’m not sure about PetSmart, because I get most of my fish supplies at Petco, but they have pretty similar stock. I give mine frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp in addition to their regular pellets, and they love them. I haven’t personally tried the others recommended here, but I have read that they really like them.
