Whelp... I finally got sick of staghorn algae and took the plunge into the world of Co2.

I bought an F-zone Regulator, diffuser, Maxi-jet circ pump, Drop checker, and PH pen (that I may never end up using). I don't have the Co2 dialed in exactly the way I want it yet, but I have had it running for a week and the plants look healthier and the fish don't mind. Two species are even trying to breed.

Being that I now dose the water column, have nutrient rich substrate, medium/high lighting, and am injecting Co2, I didn't feel that "My Walstad Experiment" was an appropriate title.

Thank you Vishaquatics (Koiman) Magicpenny75 for helping me through the process.

Looking good! That's a lot of plants. Do you love your harlequins? I don't feel like they get enough love as a species.

It is!
Jungle val in the back
various crypts
argentine swords
water lettuce
broadleaf water sprite....

I think that about covers it
I find those two (sag and val) difficult to distinguish at times. I guess the regular sag grows taller than I'm used to (dwarf sag). It's weird, my dwarf sag is barely peaking out of the substrate in places lol. Or is flat on the substate. So interesting how differently it can grow. Same plant in my 5.5g is really tall lol.

Oh I thought that was Amazon sword. Well Argentine sword is very beautiful. Love the long narrow leaves.

Next to the apisto, I think they're my favorite.
They're pretty dumb though. I catch them trapped on top of the water lettuce looking for food and have to assist them back to the water from time to time. I'm also pretty sure they think they're tiger barbs Haha.

Oh no no! The gargantuan plant on the left is definitely an amazon sword. There are just argentine swords in there as well.
Agreed though, the sag and vals just look like the tall and short version of the same plant haha
