From the Humble Beginning

Hello!

Welcome to my blog! I suppose I should start from the beginning. My name is Adam. ZeeZ is my screen name because Zee is my nine month old Chocolate Labrador's name and the last Z is what my car is called, the Nissan Z. So you have ZeeZ.

I'm in what is hopefully my final semester at my university. I don't know what else to add. I've posted some photos from when I decided to get into this hobby seriously, starting off with a betta, a few cories, and two African Dwarf Frogs in May 2007 in a ten gallon tank. I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane! This particular betta was named Duke. I lost him to dropsy. He was buried.

I will be posting more photos in my next post, which happens a while after this tank.

Thanks, guys. It's okay, for some reason I can't bring myself to flush a betta. Instead, I bury them.

Anyway, I soon replaced the plastic plants with live ones. As you can see, they did quite well in my little ten gallon in June of 2008 with a new betta named Fenders. I thought he had gill inflammation but nothing happened even with medication or salt, so I figured it was a birth defect. My Vals had basically exploded -

I also created a small 2.5 gallon tank for my then 5 year old niece, Anna, since she had wanted a betta too. She named the betta Goldie since she had wanted both a goldfish and a betta but had to pick only one. I gave her a couple of Java Ferns from my own tank.

Goldie lived for a year or so until he died. Not too bad considering he belonged to a 5 year old.

Yup, that's why I love ADFs. I'm planning on getting four more for my divided betta tank, two per side.

And finally, this post brings me up to date. This summer, I had thought that my 10 gallon occupants were dead and had given up on fishkeeping then. However, I found that there still were alive fish and frogs. They restarted my interest after living for 2 1/2 months with no light, no heat, dirty water, etc. So I started over with this -

Which turned into this -

I got some shrimp and snails from a friend. Unforunately, the shrimp did not survive...
