Funny Friend wants me to 'groom' bettas tail

First of all I am definitely not going to 'groom' my bettas tail unless there is some extreme fin issues and it's recommended by my vet like it did with one of my old bettas when he had severe fin rot.
By 'groom' I mean cutting the tail to make it appear more even.
Found her saying this absolutely hilarious like was she serious (she was...)
Like my betta is absolutely adorable and really friendly so I don't think he'd forgive me. I mean his fins are really uneven especially for a crowntail with broken edges. I've highlighted some of the main 'problem areas' according to her.
Also it's just out right dangerous because the fish being under anesthesia for too long will cause brain damage very quickly.
The only reason that a betta should ever be 'groomed' is when there are no other options and something like fin rot or fin melt are so severe the fish will die without this treatment.
Also never 'groom' a betta without seeking advice from a vet first because if done wrong you can really mess up your fish.
She also had the nerve to say that she can do it risk free for me if I give her 10 quid. Does she think I'm thick? Gonna have to tell her that she's dumb sooner or later but how should I let her know? Just say it or just explain it to her and if she doesn't listen don't let her near my precious Leon Frankfurt? How can I properly explain it without getting her to be defensive because that puts people into denial like when fish are improperly care for and people attack causing them to become defensive. I just need to figure out how to calmly explain it.
If anyone has any links could they send. They would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe explain that due to all the inbreeding in bettas that they are already weak and most likely would not survive anesthesia even if An experienced vet were to do it?

Thank you. I'll try to explain its easily for her as well so it isn't too complex because she isn't a big fish person. She just likes to buy them and let them look pretty for a few months in a vase and when they die she gets a new one.

Your crown tail is lovely. Laugh at her, in her face , full mirth and loud until she feels uncomfortable & realizes she's a fool.

This is not a dog getting fur clipped.

And this isn’t really important but I honestly prefer the varying ray sizes of your fish! It just adds some uniqueness to every crowntail because none have the same exact ray length, and tail size!

I would but I'm honestly too nice of a person. I've already explained that her bettas only live for a few months because they're in a vase and she's a spoon but she just thinks that they're disposable because they're 'just fish'.

He's such a gentle soul. When I feed him I occasionally put my hand in the tank and he just has a chill on my palm. His rays have started to grow on his dorsal fin again but with no real fin growth but I just don't really care because he's a cute baby.

"Just fish."

Sounds like you need a new friend.

I know. She's nice with everything but the fish. I just kinda got stuck with her over the years.

I love your fish! I’ve always wanted a crown tail but I’m pushing the wife’s limites on how many tanks I can keep

Your friend sounds like a tool. Clipping the fins back is the most ridiculous thing I think I've heard on here. Tell her to start chopping back her fingers and toes because they're different lengths. I think that's a pretty apt comparison.

Also I love your betta he's very pretty. Love me a good crowntail.

Do what I did when I was 14. 'Discreetly' set up a 20 gallon betta in your garage. Stays hidden for about a week.

I'll let him be aware of how much he's loved online when it isn't half three in the morning.
She's really quite dim. Her mum started getting bettas 6 years ago and had a major feather tail that could barely swim and that's how she learned about grooming. Like I get that she was trying to help but she still killed this £20 betta that had been in her vase in England in winter for 2 months. It was - 4 C where I live on a good morning. Honestly surprised it lived that long.

I have to say I greatly enjoy your massive vocabulary of words that you've used to describe her stupidity.

I get it from being from one of the least sarcastic countries in the world. England. To be honest though I would rather waste perfectly good tea than have to listen through another one of her preachy rants about fish, she's a proper mong.

Want more. I can't string together enough offenses for any such plonker. Want more and I shall deliver.

Oh goodness! I am so sad for her fish. You can try the tactful, route and attempt to educate her but it doesn't sound like shes open to it. Maybe just stick to the basic science. "According to my vet, grooming should only be done if the fish is very sick and there is a medical reason for the clipping the fins. It's too dangerous to be done just for looks." At some point you may just have to firmly tell her that he's your fish and you'll care for him your own way. Man she'd hate my boy Prince. He has such odd fins with these little curled bits and scraggles. Lol But I adore him and think hes lovely!! I never can get a decent close up pic of his weird tassley fin bits. They almost spiral at the end but connected by fin webbing.

Ah that's awful! I find grooming for beauty despicable

He's beautiful, by the way! I would just explain that grooming should not be used for looks, that you like the way he looks and if he needed to get it done for medical reasons, you'd get a vet to do it. If she doesn't listen, stand your ground and tell her its your fish. You don't have to do anything about his gorgeous fins... I would just go right out and tell her wear you stand. Like Rev said, go tell her to trim her fingers!

Good luck! If she doesn't listen and gets defensive, there are plenty of people out there - perhaps ones that won't drill you into 'beautifying' your betta.

Pictures were taken when I first got him ams it's was very cold so he was really slow so they were easy to pbogo graph.
Because his fins are so long though his fins also curl but his rays break at the ends too.

My first betta was a crown tail and their flare imo is spectacular. Your boy is lovely.
