A friend had Motoro stingrays in his shop and fed them ghost shrimp. The rays would actually hunt the shrimp down and eat them. It was fascinating. he did say it was hard to get them started eating.
I never saw other fish with them so I don't know about the tetras.

I recently did a little research regarding stingrays to answer a similar request, and did not find any that only grew to 6". All of the ones that I found grow to 1-1.5 feet.
This does not mean much, though, as I did a little research.
Do you know the type of stingray? Common name would be good, genus would be better. I'd be able to give you a much more definitive answer.

those Motoro Stingrays look very cool and they do seem to be small for stingrays.

hey thanks for the replies guys. I have done a little research myself (I think they said the moto was one of the hardier types) and was just wondering if anyone had any first hand knowledge. I actually was planning on going on to shop later today and I will find out if they know which kind of ray it is.

From what little I've gathered from forum surfing, the smallest species of stingrays are called "teacup rays". Naturally, they are more difficult to maintain than larger species... Motoro's are relatively easy, only catch is that they need either a huge tank or an indoor pool/pond to be housed properly. If you have the space available, I've seen an indoor koi pond at an lfs made from 4x4's (sides) with a pond liner to hold the water. Not very deep, but stingrays don't need deep water. That sort of setup wouldn't be a good idea with small children or 4-legged pets around though, for obvious reasons...
