Please use this topic to post your freshwater/brackish water Puffer fish photos. I'll leave it stickied so it appears at the top of the posts.

Thanks,
Mike

*Sigh*, I miss my little F8 puffer so badly. Seeing these pics almost tempts me to switch my plans for a nano reef to a puffer tank...
Rest in Peace Buppy.

My tank is a 36 bowfront, has two figure 8's, two male bettas, 3 rainbow sharks, 2 adult mollies, 4 youth mollies, 2 pleco's, I forgot how many tetras, ghost shrimp (food) and all live plants. I know it's way over crowded, but I consolidated from two other tanks. Of course my largest Betta and Rainbow shark are bullies, for the most part it's one happy tank (if you don't count the shrimp screams)

this one just shows how, depending on the angle, the eye may or may not be red

this is a terrible photo, but it shows how intense his red stripe on his belly is

"Marty Feldman", aquired as a trade for a bunch of mollies. Did my homework post-adoption (bad pet mom). Working him up to 1.012, one tblsp of Instant Ocean at a time, have a 5.5 set up as his personal Sam's Club (snails and shrimp) and he's the only fish in his 29 gallon triple-filtered suite.

High maintenance, but so worth it! He's like a golden retriever whenever he sees me - he comes flying over to the glass, wagging his stubby tail, and making his adorable "o" face at me. Adorable kid!

My Tetraodon miurus puffer “buckwheat”

I knew puffers could change their skin color but I didn’t know just how good they were at it, little fella about gave me a heart attack this morning hen I turned on his light manually for the first time(timer issue)

He is normally quite yellow during the day so you can imagine my surprise waking up to a seemingly burnt potato

On another note I highly suggest Marimo moss balls for pea puffers

nibbles241.jpg

Mbu is a planning endeavor. The fish is by far the cheapest part.
1. You need your own house that you own and will not get sold out from under you (or live in south FL with an outdoor pool. Everything warm will live in a pool on south FL right?). If you are in south FL I guess you can live in a tent.
2. Have at least 5K$ sitting in an index fund or your preferred investment. This must be separate from all other savings as you will need at least all of it. Welder, angle iron, rebar, concrete, concrete saw, fiberglass cloth, epoxy, 4x8 sheets of 1.5" acrylic, etc. If you do not have filtration and other things already around add another 50%.
3. Hope COVID or other plague doesn't show up after all your planning and setup, doubling the price of acrylic.
So until next year Nibble will unhappily be in a small 220, waiting for final tank (1-1.5K gal). I missed out on LFS guy selling his 1.5" 600g custom acrylic (1,200$!!!!!!!), I'd have to have dug down and cut a big hole in my foundation to get it in (we would have built in an exit to close the hole). I'm glad in a way, as I want him to have more than 600 gal. I'm still not happy to have missed out on that tank.

While a fishy friend for a decade may not be the wisest choice if you have other bills, if all your bills are paid and you have a parachute, you can always slowly build up some cash How to Donate Plasma for Money Girls in college told me about this as it was how they were making their car payments.
