Frayed Tails And A White Blemish!

Hello all! So I have 5 platies in a 29 gallon tank, and two of those platies have frayed tails. The first one, Walt, was the only one with a frayed tail (it’s like split in half) and it looks like it’s starting to grow back a little, but I contacted a friend who is quite knowledgeable when it comes to tanks and they suggested extremely frequent water changes + aquarium salt treatments for the tank.

So I’ve been doing that, every other day or every two days. I’m in the middle of one right now and my second platy has a split tail too! He’s also got this white blemish on his head (doesn’t look fuzzy) that honestly looks like a bruise???

What do I do? Please help!

(I’m not able to get exact parameters of my water right now but I can tomorrow.)

Pic would be helpful, please. They could be nipping at each other. Mine are terrible about picking on each other. Are they all same sex?

Picture coming right up! The first one is male, and my only male. The second one is female. I do have a red tail shark in my tank, but I plan on upgrading him to my mom’s 55 gallon or rehoming him. Could he be the problem?

The orange one and the red one. The red is the one with the blemish.

It appears that the orange one is a male and the other is a female. He is probably wanting to breed and getting a little rough.

So the cause of their injured tails is that my male platy is kinky? Should I just continue the salt treatments? Is there anything else I can do to help them heal?

IMO, just another kinky male causing trouble. Really, just good clean water will do the trick. Sometimes I’ll add a little salt. Don’t be surprised if they pair up. You will probably have babies in the next month too.
