I Did It! I Did It! Another Tank I Did It! I Did It!

I swore I never would but I now have another tank for a little lost female Betta. She will be the only one in there and it is a lesson to me and possibly to those of you who are going to start Female Betta tanks. The little lone inhabitant is going to be little Misty. She was the odd girl out in the tank and they are bullying her to the point now of not allowing her to eat. She was doing really good by herself before and will continue to do so now with the company of Angel - the Mystery Snail. She did not incorporate into the group I believe due to being not introduced at the same time and I do believe they would have hounded her to death. I am not prepared to see that happen so....

Pictures are here but please forgive the quality as the bubbles on the glass have not settled down yet. Thank heaven I decided to have an extra couple pouches of Bio-Spira on hand for hospital tank use. I have bulbs planted in the tank so she will have a lot of pretty plants besides the two I have planted for her. I am going to give my baby a very good home.

Beautiful tank! I'm sure Misty will be so happy in there. Sounds like she was meant to be a loner. Congrats on the new tank! ;D hehe MTS can't be stopped. ;D

I'm sure I'd suffer from hardcore MTS if my boyfriend would let me

Sorry to hear about Misty getting picked on but at least you took care of the situation before it got too messy.

The tank looks beautiful!!

I too would have several tanks if I had the money and if my husband would allow it. Little does he know, I am looking at his 10 gallon tarantula cage, thinking "I wonder what fish I could keep in there, if the spider died...." :-X Don't get me wrong..... I would never hurt his precious Veronica..... but one more tank would be so cool! I could save another Betta!!

I think I am the king of MTS.  Started with one tank a few months ago... now I have three tanks with fish in them (just got ten golden white clouds today) and two more cycling.

... I need help.  Is there a twelve step program for this?

I did not edit the earlier post in case anyone wants to know I hit the wrong button.

I do not know of a twelve step program for this but if someone finds one please let me know.  I did a revamp on my tanks today as I had a very unhappy little girl.  Misty has decided she will not eat unless she has some company so I took the least aggressive of the triplets (Emma) and put her in the tank with Misty.  So now I have Emma and Misty in the tank in the den with me and Jasmyn and Sara in the tank in the bedroom.  It is really great.  They are proving all the old adages wrong and being typical bettas, which is to say - totally themselves without care for the rules.  It is enough to make a mommy pull her hair out.

I'm starting to rethink getting those female Bettas... jk I still need to have them but boy I am beginning to see how interesting it could be! ;D

I would be right there with ebbandflow by now...boy are my parents lucky I am too young to get a job! : When I have some money just watch out. ;D ;D
Why, oh why must fish be so addicting?? (there goes my chance of affording a mansion on a lake. maybe I'll settle for a fishroom on a lake instead)
;D :

Rose--let us know how it goes with Misty and Emma.

Its all really chance. All three of my females are getting along fine... with each other and all there other tankmates. And feeding them is going much easier then I thought it would. There is a little fighting but I got good at dropping three bloodworms in at a time so that all of them would get a bloodworm at the same time and not fight over it.

As far as the mansion goes... I would live in a shack as long as I could own my own lake or live on the ocean. Theres just something about water that is so soothing. Plus the close proximity to aquatic life would be a plus.

Thanks for mentioning the wrong button hit Rose. I looked at the "edit" and I was like, "I have finally gone insane. When did I change that post? In my sleep?" ??? ;D

Emma is now the subject of worry as I am afraid that Misty is taking some of the naughty lessons she learned from the others and turning on her. She has nipped her fins and so now we have ragged fins to deal with. (very ragged) I do not know what to do with this little girl, she does not want to be alone, she goes into a corner and pouts and won't eat. Then when she gets company she nips fins. Oh the joys of motherhood!!!

My goodness! I hope that you find a solution or Misty stops nipping. Either way. :-(

Rose, just a suggestion. Could you put some otos in with misty? Then she'd have company but not company that she may feel is threatening. Just a thought I had.

I am going to try that. I don't ordinarily like to move the Otos much but Dopey and Dingbat grew up in that tank and while I do not like to see a single Oto, I am hesitant to buy more in case it would not work so I may take Tuck (the oldest of my Otos) and put him in there. He was alone for about 2 months before we got him some more Oto company. In fact, he had the whole tank to himself for a long while after Azul, my first Betta died of Dropsy. He has put up with a lot of Betta nonsense and could take it if any of them can. He is also almost as big as Miss Misty so she won't intimidate him. Then I will take Emma and put her into her old home with the other two girls. Goodness I have to quit moving these little ones around like they are musical chairs!

Thanks for the suggestion. I will put it into practice first thing in the morning.

Well this morning all was so well I hated to upset the apple cart so I left everyone where they are. If it gets back again though I have tucked the little plan in my bag of tricks so they do not need to feel they have one over on the old gal.
