Found a cool danio today

Today I made the mistake of going into a LFS on my way home from work. Usually I don't get to go to this store as its a good hour away from my house but working in the area I decided to stop in. Yeah that was a mistake, bought a bunch of new fish for the house. One I found I just had to share, I have to borrow a pic from the net for now as they are still settling in to the tank.

Purple Passion Danios

(Used from a site to which I can't pronounce or even type the name, thou it was posted on planted tank.)

In the pic they look kinda blue but in the stores show tanks they looked a lot more purple.

I can see some of the color when they swim under the lights of the tank directly and I can't wait to see them settle in and really color up!

I bet they would be awesome in the natural light I have in the fishhouse.

Are they rare? I'm always interested in the uncommon ones lol.

Not rare, but fairly new on the fish keeping scene.

They're pretty. I had a crazy dream last night about an awesome fish store with a pleco that had a head like a jellyfish... it was weird, but cool.

Rose danio, very very nice, not to uncommon though. They are easily mistaken for pearl danio and viceversa, sometimes impossible to differentiate.

Anywhos, they do have some nice color variations and this one being one of the prettiest out there. Breeding them is similar to zebra danio. A 20gal tank should be provided for them to hang out and a 10gal should suffice for breeding. Of course warm water and a cycle is needed. Keep the water level down to around 6" max and be sure to have marbles or gravel or mesh on the bottom for the eggs to fall into. One set up involves gravel and then large marbles that the adults can fit through the cracks.

Fatten them up on various live and frozen foods, do a large water change each week to get them starting to egg up and then add them in groups or pairs to the breeding tank, set them by the window and leave the curtains open, as the sunrises they should start mating.

We have those a the LFS that I work at. We call them purple passion danios too. They are super nice although I believe they get bigger than most zebra danios.

They do indeed, just a little though, not too huge. About similar size as danio kyathit. All I know em by was rose danio, Danio roseus

yeah they go by a few names, but they do look nice in the tank, a little longer than the average danio. They are starting to show some color but look VERY young at the moment. Ill probably be getting some more actually.
