Forgot to turn heater down, temp 92. How to lower it safely?

I did a water change today & put my tank heater in my new water to help warm it up. I cranked up the temp so it would warm up quicker & forgot to turn it back down when I put it back in my tank. My tank water is now NINETY-TWO, yes 92, degrees & I’m freaking out & don’t know what to do. How fast/slow do I need to decrease it back to normal? Should I add a gallon of 74 degree water to help bring it down some immediately or will it shock & kill them?! Ninety

PLEASE HELP QUICKLY!!

Do multiple small, water changes with your normal temperature water to bring it down slowly

Also, run an airstone if possible to add oxygen back into the water and help it cool off faster

If you have a 10 gallon tank, you can do 1 gallon now to start lowering it. Add it slowly over a 10 minute timeline. Let that mix and check how much the temp goes down. You need to go slow. 2 - 3 degrees and hour will be safe. If that lowers the temp in this range you should proceed until you get it to where it needs to be.

What types of fish do you have in your tank?

I should have added that if the temp drop exceeds 4 degrees, adjust the amount of time you add the water back in. If it is a smaller temp drop, you can make larger water change to get in range.

Checking back to find out if everything worked out and all is well with your tank? Hoping you were able to bring temp down without any losses.
