Foreign Coins and Stamps

Yesterday my dad found a large book and plastic bags full of foreign coins in the dumpster. Kind of strange, considering that there are many rare coins and stamps. There are coins from Hungary, Yugoslavia, Soviet Union, Vietnam ,Tonga, Botswana, Zambia, Italy, Belgium, England, France, Germany and much more. Most of the stamps are labeled 'Magyar Post', which is in Hungary. There are some from Africa as well. All I can say is that I'm glad they threw it away.

Nice snatch! I work as a driver for a truck stop, my manager always gives me first grabs on foreign money that comes through the registers. It is awesome how much their coins look different and how much they are actually worth (Usually quite a bit less than U.S.).

Ha, I just bought some stamps off ebay, from other countries, that have aquarium fish on them.
I'll upload photos when I get them. There's a ram, a mono, a batfish, two triggerfish, a marine angelfish, various killifish, leopard ctenopoma, clown loach, paradise fish, betta, banded gourami, rainbow shark..... and a whole bunch more.

I try to collect money from every country I visit in the world. Usually ends up being notes rather than coins, but its easier to frame like that. I'm just missing Kuwait and Iceland, I plan to return to Iceland though so I'll get some then. Other than this though I don't do much seriously, love to do it kind of on the side though. Nice! I track which coins I have through colnect.com. It also shows your collection of banknotes, bottlecaps, stamps...... and tons more. I only have 4 banknotes right now.

@, if you are interested, there are some Russian Empire coins from 1864-1907 ending in about 30 mins. I have a bid on the 1907 one, don't bid on that, lol.

I have about $10 in change of Canadian money. A few pounds , a penny with a starfish from the Bahamas, that's about it.
The pounds I found in a coinstar machine at walmart. The Canadian money I get in change. But the stores won't take it back, so I tell them before I leave the checkout: Can I have spendable money back as change please?
They usually roll their eyes and comply.

Cool! That 2 Kune one is from Croatia, the 10 KC is from the Czech Republic, and so is the 1 koruna.
Those are really cool, especially the Croatian one.......

I was an avid numismatist from the time I was 10 till about 30 years ago. I do have some interesting coins. If I can find a way to process the photo files (Canon firmware does not work with the new OS I installed) I will post some shots.

I have some US stamps with salmon on them, and one with an alligator on it.......

Well, now I have coins from 145 different countries.... so... yeah.
