I would like to preface this by letting you know it is not even 11:30AM as of yet. I would also like to let you know that I am NOT mechanically inclined. Not in the least little bit. So there's that.
Woke up, had water, coffee and breakfast. Uneventful.
Took a shower and washed my hair. Uneventful.
Got out of the shower and saw that Louie (12 week old pug puppy) had gotten into the cat litter box and made a mess. No big deal. I cleaned up everything I could with broom and dust pan and then got out the vacuum.
And here our adventure begins!
Vacuumed bedroom just fine. No issues. I decided while I had it out I'd go ahead and vacuum the rest of the house. (we live in a small one bedroom apartment so you get an idea of the amount of space I was vacuuming) I made it to the dining room and vacuum starts losing power and I notice a burning smell. I KNOW I have not vacuumed anything up to clog the hose so I google and determine it must be the filters. Ok, so I'll just clean them. YouTube to the rescue. I check the obvious filter. It's fine. Great. Of course it's the one I need tools to get to. YouTube again. I need one of those "plus sign" looking screwdrivers. Got it. Proceed to remove filter. Yep, its filthy. It's washable so I clean it. Then decide I need it dry faster than it can air dry. I know! The hair dryer! Dries my hair pretty fast. Should work just fine. And it did. Dried the filter right up. Also blew dust EVERYWHERE (because when you take apart a vacuum cleaner no matter how carefully you do so dust gets all over the place).
So I while I had the filter out I decided to go ahead and clean the rest of the parts I could get to. With everything washed I needed to figure out how to dry this little tube thing. Shoved a towel in it, used the back of a table spoon to push it all the way down. Towel gets stuck. I am now on the floor holding vacuum part with my feet and pulling towel with my hands. Louie is "helping" because he thinks this is a game. Towel comes out. Thank goodness. Start putting vacuum back together. Not as easy as it was to take apart. YouTube again. Got it. Screw the funnel thing back on to the tube thing and then put it back in the canister thing. FINALLY get vacuum back together. Clean up dust from the counter, the kitchen floor, my pants, the wall, etc. I need another shower and now Louie needs a bath as well. Louie doesn't want a bath. He throws a tantrum. Water everywhere. Clean that up and mop floor. Get Louie dried and then he screams while I take a shower. Come back in here, plug vacuum back in and...
IT STILL HAS BURNING SMELL!!! And the bottom is lighting up inside which I am thinking its not supposed to do! However the suction on it is much better. No I did not continue to vacuum. It just cleaned up a lot from the little bit I did before I noticed it was still doing the burning smell.
