BEAUTIFUL !!! Thanks for the video clip ! l

I wonder how much it costs him (per month and per year) to run such a tank ! Not to mention he has MANY tanks this size! How many gallons do you think it holds? 500 maybe?

Something told me you'd not be the last one to react on this one, LOL.

I've heard it's cost him around 400 000 USD to build! He changes 1/3 of the water every week (but it's all automatic). The tank is .... 9000 liters!

9,000 liters is ... 2,377 U.S. gallons !!!
It's more like a swimming pool, lol.
And ... OMG ... $400,000 for set-up !?!
LOL, you can buy a nice house in the U.S. (in states other than NY and the like) for that amount of money.

Yes, well ... all that this beautiful 2,377 gallon tank does really is making me dream, lol, because even if I could afford it, I wouldn't have the time to maintain it!

I'm sure part of that $400,000 went to automation, though. I wouldn't be surprised if that figure is off, anyway. I can't see it costing that much to build that tank, unless he purchased property and built the facilities especially for it. Sure, glass or acrylic is expensive, but not THAT expensive. And neither is water, or water treatment(heck, $100 worth of prime will treat all that water), or fish, or plants. I know lights are expensive, but you couldn't even fit $200,000 worth of lights over that tank. The same goes for chillers/heaters, air pumps, filters, filter media, etc.

In short, its absolutely beautiful, but not worth half a million dollars.

Did you see him calling the angels over by tapping on the tank? That's really cool.
I would imagine the automated water changing system would be expensive.

Yes, this is very cool - I've seen it before. You can't just "not love" TakashI Amano, lol I think he'd be a PERFECT husband for any fish-keeping planted tank-loving woman, lol ;D Maybe I should just take off my life here in NY and go to Japan in pursuit of TakshI Amano, haha. I hope he's not married!

P.S. Jacko, where did you get your Celebes Rainbows? I've never seen any Celebes Rainbows or Threadfin Rainbows at any fish store. They're so beautiful. Have any pictures of yours?

Yes, it's rather very hard for me to believe too

We have one of his books here...I dream whenever I look thru it. One day we'll have 1 HUGE tank, like his. I want one in a wall, like it has another little room behind it so you can work on the tank.

I need to update that, I only have one right now. They are actually near brackish fish compared to what I was first told and I couldn't convert because of my GBR's. 4 of my LFS sell them, one for 3.99, another at 5.99 and the other one at 6.99 and the last one I don't remember. Then two of those have Threadfins at 5.99 a peice. I am making my new 29 gallon a brackish one hopefully for a school of these guys. Plus there are still about 8 LFSs that I have yet to walk around and veiw within a 30 minute drive.

Good luck on marrying TakashI Amano too, though you might have trouble finding him in the phone book LOL.

I just wish I could get my parents to let me have a 3000 gallon tank, Craigslist had one for $1,500 recently. Then it could go in the basement and be a great addition to the home value!

LOL, then why don't you just fill your basement with water? A tank this size will probably be as big as your basement itself, haha ;D

LOL. Because that would really **** off my parents! Though they might not mind filling up the den. Plus what would I do with my dog if I flooded the basement?

Yeah, basement/backyard. My dad wouldn't let her come upstairs as a puppy in case she decided to "un-house train" herself up there, now it is kinda set in that she stays downstairs.

It's also easier to keep them in one space so you can keep an eye on them.
I hate when our dog which we use to have, came into the kitchen when I was cooking.

Well, you have take all of this into account when deciding to have a dog as a pet. If you decide you can't deal with these kinds of things, don't get a dog. I don't have a dog yet precisely because I know I wouldn't be able to provide it with a proper home where it would be happy (i.e. my backyard is not big enough for as large a dog that I want; it's not fully enclosed; plus I wouldn't have the heart to keep it inside all its life). Though I'd be letting my dog inside any room in my house - that's why I'd be getting the dog: to have it with me everywhere I love dogs so much and can't wait until the day I have one ;D
