Foods You Eat That Other People Find Weird

I am shocked and amazed to find another person that puts butter and ketchup on white rice. That was me as a kid, and I still crave it occassionally.

Boudin is great. We eat it all the time.

I miss menudo. My dad and I used to make it when my mom was away on business trips. She couldn't stand raw organ meat. Tripe is rumen lining, Pretty inoffensive, really, but it grossed her out. She ate the soup, though.

I like black pudding, the Irish kind with barley, but I have to mail order it and it costs a packet.

It's great depending on how it's cooked also what texture you purchase it (extra firm, firm, medium, soft)

I eat rabbit but I don't consider that weird or unusual. The best way I had it though was at a restaurant and they wrapped it in cabbage. It was amazing.

Anyone eat bison before?

Yes, I've had bison before. They sell it here in the meat section so it's not a big deal to see. It is expensive so I don't usually buy it.

My mom used to make smelt for Christmas. Not unusual IMO but pretty nasty and not many my age have had it. The whole house would reek of it. I'm pretty sure it's called smelt because the first people that cooked it, 3 days later, they said, "Dang! That smelt bad." The first people didn't have good grammar.

Stuffed pig stomach. (The stomach acts like a big round sausage casing then it's filled with veggies, meat, and seasoning and cooked.)

My favorite sandwich -- Amish peanut butter (peanut butter mixed with Rich's topping and pancake syrup and whipped together) with Swiss Cheese and smoked ham on homemade bread with a side dish of pickles.

Scrapple.

Cold pickled tongue.

Whoa, what a combination. Reminds me of my grandfather, not all those ingredients but he loved kielbasI and crunchy peanut butter. He would break off a hunk of kielbasI and dip it right into the jar of crunchy peanut butter.

It sounds good! The mixed peanut-butter adds a sweet yet salty flavor that goes perfectly with meat & cheese. Haven't had kielbasa in years... now I'm hungry!

I guess I can put in my few things people here think I'm weird for eating: PB&J sandwiches, anything more than spicy, chili, burritos. There was even a Mexican restaurant near here at one time that had a big sign out front, "Our food is not spicy, but can be if you want!"

It's improved a lot since I moved here 17 years ago though. Used to be you couldn't find any salsa except for mild Old El Paso salsa, the closest thing to mexican food in the "International foods" section at the store was an extra mild taco kit, if there were any cans of chilI in the store, there was only one type. Now there's usually 2-3 types of salsa, sometimes hot, and 2-3 types of chili.

My dad's family lives down in south Jersey, they hunt a lot. Eat some things I find absolutely disgusting. Muskrat, squirrel, racoon, frog legs, I think possum too.

My favourite pizza is jalapeño and tomatoes. I've had the chef ask the waitress to come back and confirm my order. Lol

And if you get infected you'll eat ears of corn and hearts of romaine.

Lol, I kid. That's awesome that you can eat like that. What kind of stuff makes up your general diet? I have no idea if I'd be able to ever do that; I can't stand most vegetables and I don't like any beans except for refried beans.

That was hilarious!!!!!

It really depends the days sometimes Breakfast will be Cereal with almond milk, lunch a nice salad or grilled Tufo with rice and veggies. Super can be a homemade veggie meatloaf or eggplant lasagne , maybe a chickpea curry and potato saute, or some homemade veggie burgers with marinated beans on the side ect..

Huh, that actually doesn't sound too bad.
I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to go full vegan, but when I get older and cook meals for my family I'm sure I could do some days of the week meatless. Or if nothing else raise my own meat so I know how it's treated...reading the articles on how a lot of the animals reared for meat are treated before death makes my blood boil. No creature should have to suffer like that.

Did convince my mom to buy pasture raised eggs and grass fed pasture raised beef. It's a start, anyway.

We don't do dairy at all. It's amazing the difference in the taste of those types of eggs and meat vs their counterparts. Grass fed/pasture raised ground beef tastes like steak, and pasture raised chickens' eggs taste a lot richer.

All honestly I became vegan roughly 6 years ago with my girlfriend, I watched a movie it was discusting how they treated these poor animals, I just couldn't belieeve it and ever since then I can't look at meat , chicken ect..or anything related to it without gagging or feeling upset, also not to mention all the horrible things injected in the meats people consume everyday . In the end I don't force anybody to be vegetarian or vegan , to each their own. I made my decision , I enjoy it and will never turn back.

But that's great tho I'm glad you convinced your mom , it's not only for the animals but for your own health as well, any little thing helps. Did you know that if only every American would give up meat for only ONE day a week for a full year, it would be like removing 7.7 million cars off the road. Imagone if the whole world did it and only not eat meat for just 1 day a week so the other 6 you can.

The misleading labels on meat is terrible too. Antibiotics and steroids are illegal to use in poultry (so that lovely label means nothing), and don't even get me started with the chicken egg labels!

For those unaware, because honestly, we tend to trust labels:

Cage free = Could be packed in a room the size of a closet with a million other chickens. Just no cages allowed.

Free range: Are allowed at some unspecified time during the day to go 'outside'...outside could mean a screened in area filled with feces. Doesn't specify size of outdoor area either.

Your best bet is pasture raised with a humane label. Don't remember the name of the best humane society label to look for...I know Walmart carries a good one.

My mom does a lot of health stuff, so she didn't have an issue switching the type of meat and eggs when I told her about it all. I'm lactose intolerant, so getting rid of milk is no sweat.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I do eat some vegetarian foods such as tofu, veggie burgers, and veggie dogs. I actually use tofu or avocado with baking to make my chocolate cravings healthier.

As for the OP's question other things I eat that others may find is weird is I do like ketchup with my scrambled eggs, I also put mayo on my egg sandwiches, I pretty much could eat egg everything. For me the weirdest part is what I don't eat. I have a thing with texture so tomatoes, and mushrooms are out. I can't stand to have soggy bread, I will go as far as putting down paper towel on the plate then put my bread on top of that so it doesn't get soggy. If my pizza crust is limp I just can't eat it without gagging. I also don't like it when foods mix on my plate, my veggis need to stay with veggis not cross over to my meat side. I will lay a fork or spoon on my plate to keep everything in it's place.

edit: I am a meat eater so I just want to add one can care about animals and still eat meat. One can also buy meat from local farms that they know aren't treating the animal inhumanly. Also not everyone can safely remove meat from their diets. Please lets try not to guilt trip meat eaters here lol.

I survived for 12 years as a vegetarian.
Tried turkey at Thanksgiving Dinner, hence making me a "Carnivore" after all those years.

I still eat veggies today, but also meat.

That was hilarious!!!!!

You are talking my language!
That's everything I want to eat, everyday if I had to. Whenever I have cereal, I always pour almond milk on it.
Tofu is one of my favorites, I like it oven baked.

Has anyone tried Chipotle? That's where I'll eat most of my chicken.
My Dad is a great grill master though.

My brother-in-law has a friend whose mother was born in New Zealand, so this friend spent many summers there (while growing up) visiting family. Later, in his mid- twenties he moved to New Zealand and went into Real Estate for many years. Now, after realizing their was little to no Mexican food in NZ, he started a food truck with exclusively Mexican food- he is making a mint!!
Not exactly sure where in NZ, I am seeing my brother-in-law today- ill ask him.
