Food suggestions for GloFish Tetras

Hello! I am working on cycling my new 20 gallon tank, and then plan on getting my first small school of GloFish Tetras :) I’m looking for suggestions on what type/brands of foods to buy, and a simple schedule for what to feed and when. I don’t have plans for plants/shrimp/snails at the moment, just a regular tank with gravel, a couple of decorations for hiding, heater, a bubble wall, and a good filter system. Thanks so much!!

As I read more posts on the forum, it sounds like many people don’t care for Tetras! Would the Glofish Danios be a better choice? I just wasn’t sure they would have enough room to play since I didn’t buy a 20 gallon long.

I don’t think people don’t like tetras, they’re great fish. Whatever you like you should get (granted it fits your tanks of course). GloFish Tetras are actually slightly larger than GloFish Danios.
How many are you wanting to get?
I like Hikari as a brand, but I’ve used others as well. Tetras are omnivores and need a varied diet. So flakes and also live/frozen foods like shrimp and bloodworms. You can feed once a day but vary the source like I said and make sure the food that you give is eaten within 3 minutes

I was thinking 6ish? Whatever amount will help not cause aggression but also have enough room in a 20 gallon. We just don’t currently have the space for a bigger tank. Thank you!!

6 sounds like a pretty good size school for a 20 gallon, just make sure not to overfeed and vary between frozen and flakes :)

if you have your heart set on GloFish Tetras, Glofish Pristellas are now available. They don’t grow as large as skirt tetra GloFish and are more peaceful. Better schoolers, too.

I’ve seen them, but haven’t really looked into them! I’ll do some research, thanks!
