Food Recommendations for Nano Species?

Hi there! I've reached a point in time where the majority of my fish foods have reached their expiration dates, and so I've purged my cupboards and am now on the market for some new fish foods. At the moment, all I have is Bug Bites tropical fish formula, which I really like, but I try to provide variety where I can, so I want to know what else I can keep my eye out for.

I'm limited, as my community tank is almost entirely nano species. I've got ember tetras and a new recent addition, pygmy corydoras. I'm aiming to find staple foods under .5mm, preferably pellets and not flake. I've tried the NLS Grow pellet formula, which are .5mm, but none of my fish will take them and I have to assume that .5mm is still too large. I feed frozen and live foods when I can, but I need more options that I can provide for them as a balanced diet on the regular. Any and all suggestions appreciated!

Extreme makes a nano pellet that is pretty small but don't know the size. I know my peacock gudgeon fry were able to eat them when quite small.

What types of foods would you like recommendations for? Carnivore? Herbivore? Omnivore?

I and many of my local club members use a pepper grinder to turn any dry food into a more suitable size.

Two or more brands of food can go in the grinder at once . Meaning expensive dry food can be mixed with raffle prizes and those free sample packs.

Have you tried the vitalis brand of foods ? It’s extremely damp for a dry food and just seems “ fresh “.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it! Not sure how accessible Xtreme will be, my LFS doesn't carry very many of their products, but maybe I can get some online.

Sorry I should've specificed, both the corydoras and ember tetras are omnivorous, so omnivore food would be ideal.

Off-topic, but I assume you're a fan of Erin Hunters' work? I used to love reading the Warriors series :)

I've used a mortar and pestle to grind up foods in a similar fashion, but I find the resulting particle sizes are really inconsistent. Attempting to sift them to separate by size is a small nightmare. Never thought to use a pepper grinder before, that's brilliant, I'll have to try it!

Never heard of Vitalis, I'll definitely give it a looking into. Really appreciate your recommendations, thank you!

My fancy Guppies and Honey Gouramis love the semi-floating Hikari Micro Pellets and the Omega One small sinking Super Color Pellets. The HGs and Corys love the Omega One Super Color and Omega One Catfish Pellets. I’m also looking to try the Hikari Fancy Guppy semi-floating granules for variety. For flakes, I take a screen over a bowl and grind up Omega One Tropical Flakes and Cobalt Ultra Color Flakes. The ground flakes that go through the screen are just the right size for their little mouths.

I’ve also tried breaking up Vibra Bites as well. Here is what the flakes end up looking like after going through the screen.

Yes! I love the warriors series :)! Alright, I do tend to use Hikari products, I love using the mini algae wafers made by them, as well as the Carnivore sinking pellets made by them, the carnivore sinking pellets are perfect for any type of small carnivorous fish, I don't know if you would prefer just to feed one pellet food for the omnivores or not though . . .
