Food for my platys, corycats and tetras

HI everyone,
I am new to fish keeping and I was looking for some advice regarding types of food, and frequency of feeding for my tanks.

The first tank is 15 gallon, stocked with 5 platys, 2 albino corycats and a spotted corycat. I am anticipating another platy, and 1 or 2 more corycats.

The second tank is 10 gallon, and stocked with 4 glofish tetras. I am anticipating adding 4 more.

My current on hand foods are TetraMin Plus tropical flakes, Omega One shrimp pellets, hikarI freeze dried brine shrimp, tetra veggie xtreme algae wafers, and some frozen bloodworms.

How often should I feed each type? Thanks!!

Whatever my two cents is worth, feed the corys shrimp pellets as a primary diet with the algae wafers about one a week. Probably only need to feed them every other day since they also scavenge. Feed the other fish daily on flakes, but once a week feed them one of the richer foods.

The platies can get fed once or twice a day. I'd recommend adding several other types of flake food to their diet, and occasionally supplement their diet with some peas.

Do you have flake food recommendations? There are so many available!

I always use New Life Spectrum and get great results. They're pellets instead of flakes and I prefer using them instead of flakes as IMO they're easier and not as messy. One that I've heard a lot of good about but never tried was Omega One. As for how often to feed I feed mine twice a day and usually some frozen foods once a week as well.

I will have to check those out!

Use the shrimp, veggie extremes, and bloodworms as a treat. The flakes should be it's usual diet

I'd agree with the New Life Spectrum pellets. I use the small size for my fish. I have Rummynose Tetras as the largest fish that eat those, the next size up is a bit too big for them.

I'm with tropicalfishlover in that the pellets are much better than the flakes. At least IMO. Less messy and break down a bit slower than the flakes. Of course, I do NLS pellets most of the days of the week and a couple times I offer flakes instead. My flake collection consists of Omega One, Marineland (newest one, Petsmart started carrying them and decided to try them), and Aqueon.

I try to feed my cories whenever I feed the other fish. In the past I tried feeding them after the lights were out, but my Angelfish would track the food down and was fat the next morning because she ate all of the food. So I try to distract the other fish and throw the shrimp pellets in on the opposite side.

I like the frozen bloodworms better than the freeze dried. I'd do them once a week. Maybe the day you do your water changes?

Depending on quality of the algae rounds, you could offer them 1-2 times a week in the 15 gallon. I find my cories will eat the algae rounds a little, but they are one that eats more protein. The Platies might enjoy those - adds more variety.
