not sure if this belongs in this forum but was wondering am just setting up my tank would it be ok to put food in the tank before there is anything but substrate and the filter running to start cycling the tank by building up the ammonia?

Hello, whackett! Hopefully someone who is familiar with that product will jump in and answer this for you. For now, read the label to see what is in it. If it has something other than pure ammonia, my suggestion is to pass on using it. Since it says "clean scent," my guess is it does have something else in it.

Have you searched for any posts on how to use added ammonia to cycle? There are lots of discussions!

Good luck and welcome!!

If the ammonia foams up a lot whenever you shake it, it’s not safe to use. Just a heads up!
