Fluval power filter. Good?

HI again. I think I may have found the next filter for my tank, and wanted to check in before spending the money...Will this filter be good with my little Tetras?

I'm thinking of getting the 30 gallon size for my 25 gallon tank. I like that it claims to hold the beneficial bacteria, as I've read a lot about just rinsing the media, rather than changing it monthly(I hear that changing filters can cause a minI cycle on my tank by pulling out beneficial bacteria) Will I need to put a sponge on it, to slow the suction of water in?

AquaClear is one of the most trusted filter products out there. I swear by them.

It has an adjustable flow, so you won't need anything in place to baffle it - just simply adjust to the flow you think is right. It may be worth a pre-filter sponge if you have anything in your tank that's notorious for getting into filter intakes, like snails, shrimp, fry, or kuhlI loaches.

Oh great, that was one of the filters I looked at. Is it quiet?

They are quiet, yes, unless you let your water level evaporate to a point where it starts to splash when the outflow hits the surface. The motor is good and quiet too, and I find if my AquaClear 30 starts buzzing (usually because the lid's not sitting on quite right), a quick tap on the lid quiets it right down. If it ever gets a loud rattling buzz in the future, you may only need to replace the impeller. My old AquaClear 30 lasted for as long as I kept my old tank going (around 5 years) and probably would have still been running perfectly when I got back into the hobby a decade later, if I hadn't lost it in the move to my new place...

If I were you, I would get a larger one. You should have 8 to 10 times filtration with an HOB. I think the Aqua Clear 50 would be a better choice.

I ended up getting the 30 gallon fluval, as my pc broke so I couldnt check back to see the suggestion for the larger size, and I couldnt get into walmart for the other one suggested. Its funny too because I stood there looking at the 50 and the 30..and the petsmart guy tol me the 30 would be plemty with this model, so I went 30. Ill keep running my old 10-15g filter beside it for better filtration...sure the fish won't mind a cleaner tank lol
