that sucks. a lot. so i would need a diy stand which wouldnt be so bad except it is a 75 gallon tank with a lot of fish so moving that beast and getting a new stand under it would be a hellish nightmare.

Hey I just noticed. You said height in the title but asked about width in the question.

May need to clarify that.

I went and measured it for you.

Without the lid on its 12 inches exact.

13 inches with the lid on to the top of the screw downs

14 inches to the top of the inputs output with the lid on.

don’t forget the valves are attached to the hoses not the canister.

you would have a water mess on your hands if you tipped it. Even if you drained it from the bottom it still holds a couple of gallons. Wouldn’t be good. And it’s HEAVY when full or even partially full.

I didn't see this thread before installing my FX4 today, but to get it inside of the Aqueon 65G cabinet, I had to slide it in sideways with the lid off. It barely got in there. The media baskets can be lifted out without such gymnastics (fitting through the door with a little more clearance). The door opening is 12.25".

Put the FX4 beside the stand/tank?

By the way, in terms of keeping the peace, these things are quiet.

I called my wife in to show her the new filter. She's in the hobby, too. She asked if I was ready to turn it on yet or not so she could see it working. It was already on. I told her to look closer at what was happening in the tank and it was then she realized the plants were swaying, the fish were darting through the flow, and it was clearly very much turned on.

I record podcasts in this same room, so I put a value on keeping the noise down!
