It’s been almost a month and it’s time for me to clean my fluval. Is there an easy trick to it?

Nope. Just wash all your media gently in the original tank water ( in a bucket) and assemble it all back.

After you clean it, can you post on how you like it?

I think i’m in the market for one.

Was gonna go sump but I am getting paranoid so thinking a canister is the way to go and everything i’ve read the FX4 is the way to go.

The FX4 is a great filter, easy to setup and has been bullet proof for me over the last month or so. I have mine paired up with a Magniflow 360 for now on my 100 gallon. When it get the larger tank setup , I'll be adding another one on it to be running a pair of them on the big tank. I haven't done a cleaning of it yet, maybe next month.

I was going for the FX4, but then saw the SunSun 304B. It's gotten great reviews and is a solid performer for the cost.

Good luck with that FX4!

It’s not easy to clean. I put mine into the kitchen sink and open it. But I only clean it maybe 2-3 times a year.

I know a lot of people like the SunSun for its price point, but my experience with it was disappointing. The build quality and maintenance was a real pita.

My FX4 has been amazing. Make sure you pack it with good, quality media.

That's why I bought it. I packed it to the gills with ceramics, coarse filters, medium, fine, lava rocks, fine filters and 2 sacs of purigen. Has been seeding with my Aquaflow 110 on my 40gal for almost 2 months now. Getting it ready for my 75gal cichlid tank

A shame you had problems with yours. Mine is great for the cost and it's dead silent.

I have a FX4 and 406 on a 75 gallon that was used as a EBA grow out tank but slowly moving to a community tank after selling my last batch of EBAs (7 left that I'm keeping). I cleaned the FX4 after 2 months and it wasn't that bad so it's been 4 months since and I'll probably clean it next weekend. I just cleaned the 406 this weekend after 2 months and it was dirty but not enough to slow the output flow. I usually clean my 206 and 306 every month.

One tip would be to use the utility valve to drain the FX4 so it's not full of water when you pull it out. If you don't have the supplied hose, it uses a 1/2" ID hose.

All my canisters have BioFoam, polishing pad and bio media only. No chemical filtration.

I've had one for a year and it's been Rock solid. I just swapped my 90 to a 125 and am waiting for my second fx4 that should be in tomorrow.
