I have a 306 Fluval canister filter on a 72 gallon bow front tank.I just bought a Fluval 406 canister filter.I have had the Fluval 306 running for a year with no leaking problem.I have heard some horror stories with canister filter leaking and I'm thinking about returning the 406 and getting rid of both canister filters and using the aquaclear 110 Instead. Then I don't have to worry about the o-ring seal or anything else leaking when I'm not home and destroying my apartment And the apartment below me.Has anyone on this forum had problems with canister filters leaking ? is anyone using the AquaClear 110 hang on the back filter? And if so is it very Noisy ??

it's been on the tank for a year if not better no issues. I pull it out once a month clean the sponges and swish the baskets out in some tank water and put it back together and it's good for another month. I run 2 baskets of plastic round pot scrubbers and 2 baskets of ceramic bio-media no issues.

My 406 has been running for 2 years without any issues. I clean it once a month and make sure the gaskets etc... have some silicone applied and it runs without any problems.

I have had 3 x 306s for +2 years & now they are serving 3 other's tanks. I replaced 1 of the 306 with a 406 & it is doing a great job - just clean every month or so like everyone has mentioned. I also have the FX6 on my 180gal since Feb & it is doing great.

One of the 306s I donated to my work aquarium. It did have leakage but only after a power surge & the canister was not plugged into to a surge protector. It burst the propeller which was easily fixed with a repair kit.

I don't really consider the power surge the canister's malfunction. THe Fluval is easy to clean & extremely quiet but that is my experience☺

I have 3x 406's running on 2 different tanks for just over 2 years and I haven't had any issues. I love them and have had less issues with them than with other canister brands and with HOB's.
