Fluval 406 canister

So I just recently bought a fluval 406 canister filter for my 55 gallon fully stocked community aquarium I was running 2 hob filters a marinland 350b and tetra 75g.which was pretty noisy I swaped out the tetra 75 gallon for a fluval 406. I'm currently running the marinland with the fluval 406. I'm wondering would the fluval canister alone be enough filtration for my aquarium or should I keep the both Running. The reason I'm asking is because the tank is setup in my living room and I don't want to much noise from the hob filters. I was hoping the canister would be able to cancel out the 2 hob filters any help would be appreciated.hanks.

It depends on how stocked your tank is, but it's more than likely enough. You'll want to run both for a month or so in order to establish bacteria in the 406, but I run that same filter on my 75 and it works well.

Definitely both until the canister gets BB built up....a month or so.

I would keep an HOB running constantly though. It's good to have a backup if one needs repair and you have seeded filter media in two which allows you to better clean the other without destroying your bio filter.

I will definitely run both for about a month or so. I'm still undecided if I will take off the HOB or not.I wanted to know if the canister alone would be enough filtration if I decided to take it off to quiet down my living room. Thanks.

I suppose it's enough yes. Maybe use a mesh filter media that fits the HOB in the canister. That way you'd have a seeded media source should you need to put the HOB on temporarily. Canisters are awesome, but when a part breaks, and they do, you'll have to order the part which leaves you without filtration for a while.
