Fluval 306 Hums But Not Working

So I cleaned my fluval 306 today for the first time, found a baby Cory in it so that was surprising. Unfortunately, when I hooked it back up, it filled with water normally without much effort, I plug it in and I can hear the motor humming but nothing is happening! I pump the priming lever and some air comes out but not much. Anyone have any idea what's going on? The filter is assembled correctly, sealed tightly, filled with water and nothing. I ran to petco and got a HOB Ac50 for now, loses some fluval media in the base but I'm now paranoid of die off.

If it was me, I would open in back up and clean the impeller housing again and inspect that the impeller is still engaged with the magnet (like the magnet isn't spinning loose from the blades and the impeller shaft is still in tact. Maybe run a pipe cleaner through the shaft area if it comes apart that way). I know it's a pain with the canisters. I had an internal filter do the same thing and after rinsing everything again it worked fine even though I never saw the issue.

I saw you said it's the first time you cleaned it. I see YouTube has some videos for cleaning impeller on the fluval. I attached a picture of impeller housing opened.

Well that's a fine how do you do....worked like a charm. I think the impeller got pushed too far in, I pulled it off a bit and it worked.

Well now I have a fluval 306 and an Ac40 lol.
